FHH, a foundation Rolex is not part of

I thought this might be interesting to know and read. In 2005 a Foundation of Haute Horlogerie (FHH) was founded in Geneva.

The FHH was founded in autumn 2005 by Audemars Piguet, Girard-Perregaux and the Richemont Group. The Foundation is committed to the needs of the historical heritage of Haute Horlogerie. Its assignment is to emphasize the art and skill of their craft through intensive public relations and to develop solutions for industry-wide problems such as the lack of young people or product piracy.

Reasons why Rolex is not part of this are propably very simple. Rolex is not haute horlogerie in Swiss mind, it is everyday allday watch. Other reason might be that fee’s of memberships in company unions are mostly based on turnover and volume. Rolex being bigger than all the other members together, it does not make sense to join and pay over half of the total fees.

Perhaps Rolex doesn't feel the need to advertise through the organization.

i may be wrong but FHH and the exhibition SIHH was created as an alternative to Baselworld. Rolex is in that while the FHH brands show at SIHH. Basel is already huge so its good that the brands are split up.

Rolex is listed as an Other Perimeter Brand, whatever that means. But it looks like another of those money sucking Trade Association talking shops masquerading as a good idea...
