I'm back and would appreciate some opinions. Ladies DJ with aubergine?

Hi everyone . Long time no post, but it's time for me to return as I need your input.

I'm getting ready to trade in my current ladies datejust 31 and am leaning towards the 28 with the aubergine face. I hadn't planned on trading in but we were looking at watches for my husband and I happened to look down, see purple, and I was done. Hard to resist my favorite color! I feel that I'm ready to go smaller in size now (even though my eyesight is fading - ha!); I'm just liking the more elegant look vs. sporty look these days. It'll also be my first time with the jubilee and fluted bezel; both previous Rolex's have been oyster and smooth.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has also seen the watch and what your thoughts are on it. I plan on keeping it forever, but as I also said that two watches ago I've learned never to say definitely forever!

That's a beautiful watch and one that my wife is also considering. Let's see some pics with it on your wrist.

My wife loves that watch - but we have never seen that colour.

If it's your fave colour, what are you waiting for!!!!?

Beautiful!

Enabling Statement: BUY IT!

Q: Why are you looking to go smaller? The 31mm is a great size, so says my Wife...

Thanks! We're going back to our AD tonight to try and finalize HIS selection, but if they still have the aubergine there I'll snap some photos to share!

Timing (no pun intended). I wanted to be sure I'd thought this through and not just make an impulse buy. What color does your wife like?

Thanks for chiming in :). I never used to be a fan of the smaller sizes, but something really appealed to me when I put this watch on. I'm a fairly small-boned woman and even though I've got an athletic build I can still pull off "dainty", if that makes sense. I'm hoping to try it on again tonight and spend more time mulling it over. This will be my third watch in four years and I'd like to actually stick with one for a while instead of continuously losing money on trade-ins

Not even remotely of interest to me.

I'm trying to convince him to let me buy him the platinum Day Date 41 but he's leaning towards a DJ. It doesn't really matter to me which he chooses as long as he's happy with his final choice.

That watch is drop dead gorgeous. Please don't show it to my wife. She is a huge 28mm fan and this would immediately go on her "need it now" list.

Thanks for all of your opinions. I haven't seen anyone wearing this model, and no one on the forum had discussed it, so I was concerned that I might be making a poor choice. It sounds like maybe it's just not well known yet but is still a beautiful watch so I'll place my order soon!

I was able to take some wrist shots this evening! Here are two of me with the watch, and the other two are of the watch my husband decided on (DJ 41 w/ rhodium diamond dial).

Congrats and a great choice! That is a wonderful looking watch!! It is definitely unique. DJ41 was a great choice by your husband as well!

Enjoy!

Welcome back, Sherri.

Love the chocolate dial, but the purple is absolutely stunning. Have seen this in person before and it looks amazing in person. Also I love the Jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. It is the perfect combination for the Datejust in my opinion.

Let us know what you decide on.

[QUOTE=Buttercup;8210620] What color does your wife like?QUOTE]

My wife has the tt Datejust 31 with a white face.

Incidentally, she started with a ss white face (28) then moved up to the 31 and would not go back to the smaller watch.

We are just looking at changing again and I think this is the model she has chosen (olive face):

Unless you’re hoping to sell at a later date, go with what you love. I got the olive face. I haven’t seen anyone else with it, but I love it!

I love that dial. If they would put that on a 36mm DJ with fluted bezel sticks and a jubliee bracelet, I would be all over it like never before.

I have a thing for purple!

I really like that color too. I'm a golfer, and it makes me think of the Masters jacket :)

They had the purple watch in the local AD today. The purple looks a lot deeper and more subtle than the photo - looks great

Wise words. Even if I do sell at a later date (which has unexpectedly become my norm) at least I'll enjoy it while I have it! Btw, yours looks great on you!

Thanks, and I'm ready to! I've been in contact with one of the trusted vendors here (same one I've used for my past two purchases); he's looking in to how long it will take for him to acquire them. Hopefully we might have them on our wrists within the next couple of weeks!

I think it is an amazing piece that carries a bit more propper'ness than a pure sports model Rolex... Congrat's in advance!

Please let us know what you end up getting. Looking forward to the incoming.

As for me, my collection has not changed for about two years now. Pretty content with what I have. YG DD, YG Sub, YG GMT, Datejust, SS Sub and BLNR.
