Datejust 41 (126300) Smooth or Fluted with NATO?
Want to buy DJ 41 (126300), one white DJ41 and another blue DJ41. Planning on using NATO straps for both. Question: Cannot decide between both smooth or both fluted bezels with NATO on DJ41. Help me decide. Thanks! Anyone have pics of DJ 41 on NATO or experienced answer? Thanks again. *Not interested in doing one of each:)

No ... not kidding. DJ & NATO’s are not new idea.
No, not kidding. Was hoping for an honest answer but maybe I’ve set my expectations too high. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds in the nice spirit of my question.

It’s an odd watch for a NATO is all. Worth a shot tho. And it’s a super robust piece. Please post pics. I’d like to see how it looks.

Why would you put a DJ on a NATO?
Do you wear running shoes with a suit? Dress shoes with your pajamas? Flip flops with a dinner jacket? |

If you google “Datejust with NATO” you will get your answer. The smooth looks better and, in my opinion, leather looks better than synthetic. Some are rather nice looking, but to each his own.

DJ on a NATO is a stupid idea, as is asking for opinions and then being snarky they don't agree with yours. But it's your watch, do what you want. |

'Normally' I would always say fluted for any DJ. But on a NATO smooth is probably better.

Smooth.
Not a DJ but has a smooth bezel to give a general idea. I did it on a whim and was surprised that I liked it. Comfortable, and I don't fret about scratching the original bracelet. But . . . it's not for everybody.

I agree with the majority that a DJ just doesn't look right on a Nato but that's only my opinion.

I have a bunch of nato straps, and I like how they dress down a watch. The closest to a DJ would be a GMTIIc, so not that close. However the GMTIIc has slightly reflective notches on the bezel, and looks fine on a nato.
If this is the only way you are going to wear it then probably go smooth as people have said. This was your question after all. However if you are going also put them on the braclet to change it around, I would consider at least one on fluted as otherwise you end up with two near identical watches (assuming the same braclet I suppose). I feel the white dial carries smooth and fluted equally well, except with smooth it looks like a Milguass without the silly second-hand. Blue is better with fluted to me, but I much prefer rhodium which really works both ways. Why not wait for the rhodium with romans out this year? Then you get a splash of colour which you can highlight with a suitable nato. My GMTIIc has a tiny green hand and lettering. When it goes on a black and green nato this shows up more in a way I like. |

I wore my DJ41 on a NATO quite a bit actually. I liked the option to dress it down. Only issue was the spring bars are so close to the case that getting the NATO installed was a bit of a pain. I’ll see if I can dig up some pics...
