My son's lacrosse team
Visiting this forum has made me really appreciate the patience and composition necessary to take great macro shots. Thanks guys. I have some catching up to do.
In the meantime, I like to shoot subjects in motion in natural light. So, for the past few months, I have been practicing by taking photos of my son's lacrosse team in action. This is an under 11 league with kids who have a lot of heart but are just learning the basic skills. Most of the shots were taken at evening games or on rainy Saturdays. Nevertheless, I think they look pretty good. Here is a link to the photos I posted on the web so the other parents could enjoy them: http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h231/gvyla/ The photos have been resized from their original 1MB to 1.6MB high resolution size, so image quality has suffered a little bit, but you get the idea. Enjoy.

Great pics, Dave. Looks like the kids were having a lot of fun, not to mention getting a good workout. Did the dads have fun as well?

Fortunately, my son is only 9 years old. His lacrosse parties involve pizza, swimming pools and soft drinks without caffeine. I still have another ten years before I have to worry about the hard stuff.
This league is actually great for the whole family. Both parents usually attend all the games and most of the practices. And, since they take place at schools and parks, it's not uncommon to see little brothers and sisters at the playground and even the family dog. You even see parents from opposite teams getting along in the stands. It's quite refreshing.

Great pics.
Lacrosse is huge around my area. Semi pro teams all around me. The Mann cup is a big deal up hear. Except, our kids have to play outdoors on blacktop, in the summer. Absolutely nasty hot for them to run around. There are a few indoor fields, but mostly outdoors. Plus our nets look wayyyyyy smaller. Good to see the US playing Canada's national sport

Lacrosse .... WOW
I am the founder and admin at www.lacrosseforums.com . I no longer own the site however. I sold it to Inside Lacrosse Magazine about 1.5 years ago. I am still very much involved in the sport and as a result work part time for IL. Check it out. Your son will fit in nicely. I warn you though.... it's a zoo. Nothing like this place. |

Here is my custom weapon .... A Brine Cyber with a Stylin Strings custom pocket. The head is now mounted on a Blue Harrow IBeam.
(Ofcourse this is when it was first strung.) |
