If it’s your first Rolex I’d say go with the sub date. Personally I find the date feature very useful and the cyclops is classic Rolex.

That said, if I had the choice myself I’d go with the sub ND because I think it’s very good looking and all my other watches have a date feature.

At the end of the day you can’t go wrong between the two. Enjoy the buying process :-)

Sub no date is perfect for 1st and only Rolex. A 14060M was my 1st back in 2005. Perfectly balanced and much less common than Subdate. I look forward to your pics.

Any Sub is a good choice, you can't go wrong.
Personally I prefer the date and like the cyclops being the Rolex signature, but the 114060 is looking really clean and beautiful.

Ask around AD's if they have one in stock.
If you don't want to wait go with the trusted sellers. Have a look in the after dark forum.

I went SubC 114060 because I thought it was more visually balanced, though I knew the Date was more popular. Either way you can't lose

Just got my dream watch, a sub date, a few weeks ago. I have a hard time getting work done because I keep staring at my watch.

People say sub dates are extremely common but where I live apple watches are common and rolexes are unusual.

Good luck either way you go!

I assume you’re asking about where to purchase. At this time, you’re not going to get a significant discount from either an AD or gray dealer as supply is very tight. Not knocking on Tennessee, but you’re probably in a good spot to get one from an AD so shop around and see what they say. I’d go that route for your first, especially in this climate.

I prefer the date, because I do use it a lot. But either is a great choice!

I do not need a date and l do not care for the cyclops. For me it's the 114060.

Any Sub is a great first. I prefer the cleaner dial layout of the No Date (114060). Check with a few ADs in your area.

I liked the sub for symmetry and the date for the fact a date feature is so handy. So I edged my bets and put my name down on both lists. The date was offered after just a few weeks and I grabbed it with both hands. Can't believe my luck and love the watch. I also can't stop staring at it.

I’d go date but I’d also consider the GMT-II. You may find yourself wanting the GMT if and when the bug bites you. Might as well seriously consider it now.

Fairly certain you'll be chuffed with ANY Submariner.

Just remember this day, the start of a whole new habit!
Looking forward to your, "what shall I buy next" post.

Good luck and welcome.

Send photo's asap, just so you can get
a million "nice watch, congrats", etc etc

Welcome to TRF!

Any sub will be an amazing first Rolex. I like the looks of the no date better, although the sub date might be the best bet for an only watch.

Hello and welcome to the forum, as you can see there is and will always be a great debate with what is the better Submariner, I'm with the no date, 5513 side of the debate.

Welcome to the forum. You cannot go wrong with the classic 116610 Sub Date; it can dress up or down and built to last your lifetime.

I think Rolex owners must have bad memories if they can’t remember the date. If you really get stuck you could check your phone.
I personally dislike the cyclops as it clutters the dial and when the hands meet at around 3 it gets difficult to tell the time. No date 2 liner for me.

My advice is to listen to your heart. Try on both watches (more than once, if you are able), and you will know which one sings to your heart! Get a feel for which one you will want to see on your wrist!

I’ve been debating the same for my first and tried on both subs and gotta say I just like the no date look better. So I’m gonna get that. I don’t mind the date bubble on any of the watches but given the option I prefer without. Also I have a date on my seamaster and always forget it’s even there/never use it so I think I’ll be fine without it lol

I think SOME Rolex owners must have bad short term
memories if the Cyclops confuses them and,
they can't remember if the time should be; 3:15, 2:15, 4:20, etc, etc, etc!

Welcome to the forum. You really can’t go working either way. For a one and only, I’d need it to have the date, but since I have more than one, I prefer the Submariner

Hi man, welcome and you have to go with the date for the first Sub. Sold my no date within 2 months of ownership, as it drove me crazy without the date.
