Ulysse Nardin

Anyone here have any experience with the Nardin timepieces? I have been considering adding the GMT or the Diver to my long list, but it seems in the reviews I have read that they only use modified ETA movements.

I really like the beauty of these watches and they are simply profound in their aesthetics.

Thanks,

Richard

When I last bought, I had looked at the Quadrado model. I liked it because it had the large date feature and was a GMT function. If the dealer had it on a strap, I most likely had gone for it. The Maxi Marine Diver is also a very cool watch. UN's are really nice watches, and yes they have ETA movements, but are very robust.

I really think that UN is making some of the best watches around right now. I also like the fact that not many people know the brand and instantly recognize them. The ones that I have handled were very well made, solid pieces. They have been on the cutting edge of modern watch making for the last 20 or so years and make a great watch in my opinion. I like both models you mentioned, but would gravitate towards the Marine model as they originally started making watches for the French navy.

Superb brand, with incredible customer service. Some models have modified movements (~60% of the watch's parts are changed), and some have in-house movements. Their GMT mechanism works forward and backward, and can be changed with the watch on your wrist.

Best of luck in your search!

why does everybody have such an issue with ETA movements. They keep great time and lead to less money leaving my pockets. Personally i dont like that particular watch though. Richard, I still think the Seamaster GMT is the way to go.... if you are "settling" for an ETA, anyway.
