Beware of seller on NYC craigslist
I'm a new member but have been a watch collector and a member of watchuseek for ages. I wanted to make you aware of a scammer on craigslist that I almost fell for.
Name: Urosevic Dragolgub (claims that his name) It's an Eastern European name but on the phone I noticed a thick Hispanic accent. Authenticated via photos with my Rolex experts and verified it was in his possession by requesting specific photos. Wanted to meet locally but claimed he's now living in Rochester. He suggested shipping and wiring to the following instructions. He claims it's his gf account and even provided a photo ID (newly registered North Carolina id). The account at wellsfargo is in good standing but relatively new as well (less than 1 year). Name : Charlotte Linski account number : 3018603821989 routine number : 053000219 Bank: Wellsfargo Texted and called from 585-437-4834. It's a Rochester area code but a google or VOIP number. Surprising someone with the technological knowhow to get a google number but can't set up a PayPal account. Claims his local address is: 94 Northwood dr, Rochester NY 14612 - but can only meet at night. Followed my intuition, opted against wiring him the funds. He grew upset and asked for a deposit in order for me to meet locally. I showed him a photo of the cash in my possession but will not send a deposit. We agreed to meet in Rochester and he no-showed on me. Seller posted in NYC craigslist and not in Rochester. |

Very typical craigslist scam. NEVER send any money when purchasing on craigslist. All purchases should be made in a public setting during the day. Preferably your local jeweler (given permission) or your bank

Agreed, never again. I overlooked the flags because I was able to authenticate it and he had it in his possession. We were going to meet at the airport so I guess it would have been relatively safe. Guessing members on this forum rarely lurk on Craigslist and only deal with reputable sellers.

That "Valuation of Insurance" handwritten paper is absolutely hilarious. Who does that!

Buying a watch off Craigslist is akin to finding a date off craigslist. Caveat emptor.
Did you drive 5hrs from NYC to Rochester for his no-show? You also need to question why somebody who knows how to use the internet would ask $3500 for a $6500 watch. Does he have a 2008 Porsche 911 for $12,000 too? |

Why does anyone even use craigslist anymore??? It's an outdated site full of time wasters, frauds, and scams. Plenty of trustworthy sites and dealers to choose from in 2019.

I'm assuming most people on the forum is too savvy to fall for this scam. I was motivated by a good deal that comes from time to time. I've certainly benefited from it in the past. The seller definitely have the watch in his possession and it looks to be authentic. I took the morning to fly out to Rochester and back on the next flight when I realized he wasn't going to show up.
I think the airport is as safe of a public place to meet, almost as safe as a bank. The seller is now lurking on this forum since I've put his phone number and scam under the spotlight. He's still claiming innocence and is trying to threaten me with a defamation claim. Here is his updated craigslist link. https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/j...793239346.html |

Thanks to the forum and my ability to post his phone number and scam, the seller's craigslist ad have been flagged despite multiple attempts to re-list. He's using a different number now: 585 310 8959 |
