Grand Slam of Rolex

Tennis has the US Open, French Open, Wimbledon, Australian Open

Win all 4 and that is called the Grand Slam.

What is your Grand Slam of Rolex?

It's actually a career grand slam. GS are the big 4 tournaments.

That's actually one of my pet peeves. Nowadays, any one of the four Majors is called a "Grand Slam Championship" by the sporting press.

1. 1016
2. 5513
3. 1675
4. 6239

Perhaps not the most rare models but here’s my favourites:

6538 tropical dial
6542 bakelite
6541 steel bezel
6263 lemon dial

And once I feel grown up I’ll get a glossy black dialed 6062 and a tropical gilt dialed 6234. I really don’t need more than that.

Ah, how to narrow down? OK, I’m thinking of this more in terms of the tennis tournaments—how the Slams became what they are today largely in part to professional tennis entering the ‘Open Era” in 1968. Tennis was sexy, it had new-found (mass) popularity, and these four tournaments were the most prestigious & historically significant. So I’ll choose the References based on the above (prestige/historical importance, circa 1968ish production, popularity, and sexiness…hey, why not?) instead of my own personal favorite Grand Slam.

5513
1016
1675

I didn't think about it as a grand slam when I started but for me it is:

1968 GMT Pepsi (birth year) Done
1999 Sub no date (2nd daughter born). Done and daily wearer
1994 Daytona (1st daughter born). Will buy before end of summer.
1992 Day Date - (marriage) - still looking and saving.
