Icon20 Decision Time and Seeking Advice - 116710 BLNR or 126710 BLNR

As the title suggests, would like some advice and input from the trusted TRF community on a BLNR purchase.

I put a deposit down on the 116710 BLNR with an AD a few months ago and was just told this week I am #1 on their “list” and should expect a call soon for pickup. I had planned to purchase it and eventually source a jubilee bracelet for it as I like the versatility with both options. It’s also “discontinued” for whatever that is worth.

However, given the new 126710 BLNR release today, should I opt to go for that reference instead? It has the newer movement, slightly slimmer case (maybe), and already comes on a jubilee bracelet. One reservation I have is that I’m not sure if it will be backwards compatible with an Oyster bracelet as I remember reading mixed reviews on the BLRO.

Also, it means waiting longer as well which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I have a good relationship with the AD, prior purchase, and feel like I could parlay my spot to the new one even if I drop a place or two in lieu of a “VIP.”

What is the smart choice here ?

I guess just purchase whatever your AD will offer you, and it will be probably the new version.

If you are in the market for a BLNR GMT Master, I'd recommend getting whatever model you can from your local AD. It's a good looking watch. You'll be waiting a long time if you are holding out for the latest iteration.

Personally prefer the oyster bracelet, so I would choose the “old discontinued” one

Funny how things play out. Picked up an 2019 BLNR at my AD last month after he offered to let me “trade up” if Basel ended up with a good offering. It’s a keeper now for sure as it would be too similar to my BLRO on jubilee.

Updated version is better - the Jubilee is amazing (comfortable and hide scratches)

I would go with the Mark 1. It’s very clear now that Batman is a modern classic and the original reference had a run of just 6 years. You can always change your mind later since the jubilee will be in production for a while.

I would get the new one with Jubilee bracelet as you can clearly see that the old one is on 10:11, despite the seconds being at 31 whereas the new one is between 10:10 and 10:11 as it should be. Clearly there are technical problems that have been fixed with the new movement.

Funny seeing all the Oyster owners voting Oyster. They're both nice. The Jubilee is nicer for me. PCLs on an Oyster... nah.

Leave the jubilee for the Pepsi. The BLNR looks sooo much cleaner with an oyster.

I am with the majority here; buy the one he offers you first. You really can’t go wrong.

I very much doubt you will be offered a 116710 now that they have been discontinued......but based on the crazy prices now being asked on the secondary market if you do receive the call then you would be a fool not to accept. It is a real shame how the market has changed over the last 10 years.

I would go with the new jubilee model just because I already have an 116710LN and
and 116713LN, both on Oyster bracelets, obviously.

If I didn't have those, id go with whatever was "shoved" in my face :)

For those older members of the forum the GMT Coke and Pepsi Models were available with the Jubilee Bracelet-I would suggest that the BLRO introduced at Basle was more acceptable because of this.
As the BLNR never was available with a Jubilee perhaps the Basle 2019 update may not as be acceptable in popularity/demand because of this when deciding.
The BLNR with oem Oyster Bracelet is the real McCoy and more appealing aesthetically-a killer combination!

Can’t imagine there will be a choice, I would be amazed if AD’s are going to get any more stock of the Oyster.

Well if it's via AD, you're probably getting the new one no?

I don't have a GMT but I think they look much better on oyster.

The only correct answer is the one you can get soonest. If it’s the old, it’s the old. If it’s the new, it’s the new.

The one you can get your hands on first. Though like many have said, if it comes from your AD I suppose it would have to be the new BLNR on jubilee

Personally, I'd go with the new model but that's because I've been waiting for the BLNR to get the updated movement. I've always been hesitant to pull the trigger because I didn't like the low power reserve of the outgoing movement.
