Basically, watches are just jewelry. Wear what you like and what feels comfortable.

I'm not big on FOMO, but in light of the fact the GMT LN just got discontinued, ask yourself if you're going to regret letting it go, since it will now be harder to reacquire in the event you miss it. (On the other hand, if you won't miss it, now would be a good time to cash in.) As for the Sub, I'm a fan. I have much greater use for the elapsed-time bezel than I do a second (or third) time zone. Combined with the Glidelock, it was a no-brainer for me. It might be a good move for you.

It's true the 6-digit Sub and GMT cases are not identical, but the idea that the Sub is chunkier is a myth. The GMT mid-case is actually thicker, but has a less-protruding caseback, so its total thickness is about a half a millimeter less. However, its lug proportions and general appearance are, for all intents and purposes, identical to that of the Sub.

I don't like the glidelock and the bezel numbers on any Sub compared to a GMT.
The allure of the 114060 I can understand but to me a GMT > Sub.

Try the Sub on before you make this decision. On my wrist, the Sub does not sit well. I keep gravitating towards the GMTIIc or 5 digit models.

Go with what feels right, there is no wrong answer to this question.

I had a BLNR and SubC (ND) and needed to release some funds. I actually sold both and went with a SD4K as found the brushed finish and all black dial much better for a one and only. I used the date on the BLNR hence the compromise of the SD4K (plus it’s better proportions for my smaller wrist size!).

I really love my GMT2C and would never trade for a Sub ND. However if you want sub you should get it. I would try it on first... this is the perfect time to sell gmt2c for maximum value.

I'd make the trade if you really like the sub more than the GMT, but I doubt you'll be able to squeeze much extra cash out of the deal. Pre-owned LNs are listed for under $10K on watchrecon and you don't get retail on a trade in.

I'd be more likely to trade for a mint 16710 and a set of bezel inserts than a sub right now.

I say go for it. I wear a 14060M and I love it. You can even track a second time zone with its bezel if you ever need to.

I sort of went the other. Was always s Sub/SD guy and whilst I still have some, I started getting into GMTs a while back. To be honest, it did not come down to function or anything like that.....or was more for looks and wearability. The GMT can also do anything the Sub/SD can...at least for me. In any event, these are all superb watches!

Your reasons for getting the Sub make sense. I agree with your rationale.... seriously though, you never checked the date in 19 years!

I took my GMT with me on my first extended overseas trip a few weeks ago. Being able to glance down and read home time (rather than continually pulling the iPhone out) was a huge benefit. But if you don’t use it....

In 19 years of GMT ownership (I had a 5 digit previously) I have never once actually used the GMT hand, and can't actually recall checking the date either... So I'm looking to sell and instead buy a no date Sub 114060.
It would meet my simple time-telling needs while putting a couple of thousand in my pocket - not to mention the beautiful symmetry of that dial!
Would others consider me stupid or wise?
I own both and I prefer the glide lock and clean look of the sub. Taste changes over time - if you like the sub and you’re able to put some money in your pocket- double bonus!

Total matter of personal preference. I love the clean look of the face of 114060, like the numbers on the bezel more, and love Glidelock. For those reasons, I went with the Sub and have zero regrets.

That said, I may acquire a GMT someday but I might not.

But I’d never trade my Sub for a GMT.

I have owned a black GMT iic. I enjoyed it for 8:years and sold it for a new sub date. I do like the gmt bezel but the sub’s Glidelock bracelet is the main reason why I prefer the sub. My next Rolex will be a Coke GMT iic once it comes out. I will trade out the bracelet to a Glidelock. The PCL is not my style.

I believe GMT is a very useful complication and for me a date on a watch is a must as I check date more often than time, but since you don't use them I can understand why you would want to go for 114060 with its symmetry.

Lately I find myself liking PCLs on SS models more and more, cyclops is a must for me on a Rolex and honestly black Sub is too bland for me, I'd have to go for a Hulk/Kermit if I went for a Sub or at the very least Shark mod a black Sub. If you like it though, I don't see why you shouldn't do it. Be aware though that since your 116710LN is discontinued now if you do regret selling it, it may be harder to get one in the future for reasonable price.

I have owned quite a few of each and have always been more of a Submariner person as opposed to the GMT. I like the case on the six digit Submariner-C and the Glide Lock Clasp is worth the price of admission for the perfect fit. The ND Submariner-C is unique to me as you do not see them everywhere and the dial is perfectly balanced. I would figure out the pricing and what the best deal to be had is and then do it. I look forward to an incoming thread.
