YG Daytona (116508, black with champagne subdials)

The 116508 (YG, black dial with champagne subdials) has been stuck in my head since December 2018, which is when I tried it on for the first time. I tried it on again recently, and boy it’s just smokin’!

Who owns it? Thoughts?

Who used to own it? Why don’t you anymore?

Who wants to own it? What’s your hold up?

Cheers!

I fall under who wants to own it, what’s the hold up?

I love this watch, green dial is my favorite by far. The black dial is classic though. I have not “yet” since I can’t seem to order it.

Appreciate the feedback. Are not able to order the black (champagne subdials) or the green dial?

Sounds like that’s a common issue lately.

John Mayer ruined it for everyone..

He really did. I was looking at them last September, no indication of issues ordering. Now it’s a whole other story. Maybe the madness will die down and I can still order one.

That Newman dial is a stunner. I've had it on my mind for several years but the only thing holding me back was the boldness of the bracelet ( all gold watch definitely gets a heck of alot of attention). So I ended up with a panda dial on leather strap instead. Having said that, after looking at your pics I am definitely interested in perhaps adding it to my collection after all. I mean in an all honesty, one can never have too many Daytonas in the collection can they?!

I used to own exactly that watch. It is really a stunner, specially the dial. But there are certain angles and environment where I feel that the watch is too blingy for my tastes. I realized it is mostly the effect of the polished bezel and lugs. So I moved on and sold it eventually.

I replaced it with a yg gmt, which despite being full yg, looks abit toned down to my eyes due to the black ceramic bezel and brushed lugs.

The case on the Daytona is Rolex’s best, IMHO. And I agree, one cannot have too many Daytonas!

This particular reference seems so perfect without the ceramic bezel. It has the vintage vibe. The White Daytona C and the Platona, on the other hand, are perfect with the ceramic bezel. So these watches all can coexist.

I have that watch. It’s one of my favorites. That was my favorite dial. It is one of two that I can honestly say I’ll never part with.

Was there ever a TT version?

If yes, it might be just the thing for anyone worried about too much bling...

This dial is for YG references only, not available for 116523/116503.

Even though the paul newman dial model is awesome I still prefer this one. I'm waiting for the ceramic bezel to be available on full gold bracelet and might pounce on this.

Yes, there was. I believe discontinued only a couple years ago.

I just did a comparison on my 116508 black vs green. The YG daytonas wear amazing on the wrist, they have the feel of true luxury!
