There's a great live music scene and as you've noticed every cuisine in the world is here. There's something like 30K restaurants in the Houston metro area. Biggest Vietnamese immigrant community in the US so lots of great places for that. My favorite Mexican food is not the fancy places but the mom and pop ones where they barely speak English. Lots of great pizza too with all variations represented.
PS: I'm middle aged too and am entirely a part of my city. Age is just a number if you're active and stay busy.
My biggest hobby is probably fishing followed by hiking and outdoorsy activities. I've heard the bass fishing, in general, is great. Thanks for the advice, I'll check out the food, love trying all kinds
