The argument in favor of the travel time being stealth wealth applies to any Patek. Rolexes are the most recognizable, hence why I feel safer wearing my Patek sometimes instead of my Rolex.
That said Patek is not stealth wealth. Stealth wealth is people who genuinely don't care about this stuff. They're even gifted Pateks only to chuck them into the closets. I know someone with over $10b to their name and they drive Toyota 4Runners everywhere. Unless you have a genuine appreciation for haute horology, you are just a striver like anyone else. That's not a bad thing. It's just being honest about who you are and where you fit into the world. And once you embrace the fact that you're truly noveau riche you can go back and enjoy try those McDonalds french fries. You know why? Because whether you're rich or poor, they taste damn good. |

The wealthiest person I know (and he’s mega-wealthy) has a number of impressive watches, but for the past few years he most frequently wears a G-Shock. I think we all have phases where we desire to project a certain image to others. But maybe when you attain a certain level of wealth, when you can literally afford anything, there’s little motivation to impress anyone and price tags don’t necessarily have as much meaning as just finding things you simply feel comfortable with.

You’ll love the 5164a...incredibly comfortable, versatile, and easy to use. Well worth the wait imo

Brilliant watch. Big fan of the 5164. Super easy to use. Had a good look at one in the PP Salon a few months bag.
Getting your hands on one at MSRP is tricky. |
