I have also found that every time I try one at the AD I find it very small.

It does wear smaller than other 40mm Rolex sport models, most likely because of the bezel. I went through the same thing and didn't buy twice only to buy a couple of years later (of course, after a couple of price increases).
But I like it, fits easily under a shirt cuff and it's light. But if it feels too small for you, there are other options. Sub, GMT, ExpII, YM and YMII, etc

I must be the only guy on this forum who has never had a Daytona on his wrist. I must check this out and see what it feels like on me. I wear a variety of different sized watches, so nothing really feels too small or too big.

I have the same issue. I don't think I could ever buy a Daytona again because of it. I've had the 116520 and the 116515

The SS Daytona is actually around 38.6mm as opposed to 40mm, plus it doesn't have a maxi case as the SubC and GMT C do so yes it looks and is actually smaller, however, I wear mine everyday, and I am 6' 1", 215 lbs and have 8" wrists and I think it is perfect.
I don't miss the date, I am happy with the size and I hope Rolex never increase the size or add a date to this classy, iconic timepiece.

40mm is not a small watch, but it's a small space to fit three sub dials. Tudor Heritage Chrono is a better fit at 42mm, IMO. And you get a date.

Nor me; frankly I'm not that wild about Chronos. It is a lot of complication which I don't really need although I recently bought an older Speedmaster Mark II for what ever reason I don't have a clue.

SS Daytona is a little on the small and light side for me, so perfect excuse for going gold on one I say!

This makes sense as well. With the open space on the Sub and the three sub dials on the Daytona this could definitely give it the illusion of being smaller. The WG models with the black or slate dial seem to appear larger where you do not have the same contrat between the main and sub dials like the SS has.

Went to buy a Daytona, BUT I ran into a problem....
40 is actually 39.5.
A stunning piece in any metal

Don't think it's actually too small - it might just not be the model for you. Go the Smurf, already! !!

So many watch buyers with gender confusion. The Daytona is one of the manliest watches around, and if you think it is feminine, well, it is not the watch. Try a Panarai 60mm, maybe that will make you feel more manly.

I'm 6'6" and have an 8 inch wrist. I love my Daytona, with black dial and do not feel it looks too small. While I'll certainly accept the argument that the small subdials can be hard to read with my middle aged eyes, the watch itself does not look too small on the wrist.
But, these are all personal preferences and you should wear what makes you feel good. That's what watches are all about. |

Just a question of feeling
I have no problem with the size but your feeling is what is important |

I admit each time I bought one, when I opened the box, I think "damn, that looks small!" Guess I am used to all the close up pictures, etc on the forums.
That said, I've owned 3 over the years and worn them (upper 7's on wrist size) without issue. But for some reason they do seem to be smaller than my other 40mm watches. |
