Do you Brits know how easy you've got it in this English language orientated world? We Duchies have to struggle with the 'th' ending of words, making a fool of ourselves But there are two words that are easy to pronounce, even to me: 'Gin' and 'Scotch'

Well Martin, it looks like I may have to change my avatar - no room for Thanksgiving turkeys anymore. Maybe Jocke can photoshop in some Yorkshire pudding or that pie you are so fond of!

Carolina, thanks for posting the Queen's commands again. I had a little fun with them as you'll see on the older thread:

Well old chaps, I quite enjoy the British humour that goes on through the forums and carries on into this thread. My four favourite things to come from the jolly old UK are the great TRF members from there, John Cleese (I LOVE John Cleese), Burberry and the Spice Girls.

I must admit though, I don't think there is any British blood in me at all. I am very, very German! (Well, I guess technically, Prussian )

Princess Ashley!

What a toffee nosed bunch you are, you should get out and mix with the hoi polloi. Learn some proper English and eat chip butties. Drink warm beer with a packet of crisps. Play dart and dominoes and live in a terraced house with an outside toilet. Queue up for your dole money and loose it all on the nags, then you can be considered a true Brit.

We couldn't afford tin, ours was galvanised steel and we had a mongrel.

(Strange thing is, that's all true)

If it was down to me, I'd make Earl the Duke of Earl and Alan would become a princess because he wears a girlie watch.

Too good an opportunity to miss....good job the court jester spotted that one!!!!!!!!!!!

I would also like to nominate Lisa for the "Carry On Forum" award to be the high and mighty, one true head of state, sovereign of forum Parliament, Her Royal Highness Queen of TRF.

Looking at her recent posts...she is intelligent, witty, caring, honest and regal. All the qualities of a great queen. Also, looking a bit like Sarah Palin, she gives the impression that she could be good on a hunt and could easily wring the neck of a grouse singlehandedly.

I bet she looks good in a headscarf too!

Lisa for Queen...Mireyna and Karis to be her ladies in waiting.

Update the list Brighton Belle!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Royal family are a good example of the way Britain absorbs other cultures a fact that is often lost on little englanders in this country. The first English speaking King was Henry V, 1413, before and after French was the common language of Royalty.
Our current Queen Elizabeth House of Windsor has German roots. George V changed the family name, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, during WW1 because of the German connections.
We even have had a King with Dutch connections!! William III or William of Orange 1650.

It's a pity we haven't got a member called Elvis. We could have made him King.
