Not a bad idea really. BLNR is hard to come by. If the Rolex RC says it needs to be totally replaced, you'd jump the queue and they'd give you a new BLNR with no waiting.

Nothing a cape cod can’t fix.

Except this one. You’re lucky to come out without major damage. Just send the watch back to RSC and told them you had a fall.

Wow. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Definitely contact Rolex and send them pics of the piece. They'd probably like to hear your story.

Like many others have said, I wouldn't fix it.

Yikes! Glad your injuries were limited— sounds like you’ll heal up in due time. Best to you for a rapid recovery. I would leave your watch repair/replacement to your insurance.

They'll either want to repair it or, if beyond economical repair, replace it.

Depending on your policy wording, replacement could be "new for old" or their pay out could be less an allowance for (normal) wear & tear but that would be tricky to estimate now.

Either way, if insurers pay out for a total loss they'll want to keep the damaged item. You may be able to buy it off the insurers once they have settled your claim.

Drunk driver T-boned me on my Yamaha when I was 17. Both my left knee and ankle were snapped the wrong way, like a chicken leg. Haven't got back on a bike since. I recall how enjoyable motorcycling was, but how painful five operations were also, and being brought back to life due to blood loss.

I stick to cars now. Lesson learnt. Best wishes to the OP.

I would have it repaired with as few new parts as possible (a bit like the rat-look car)

It will always remind you 'what could have been'

Just a comment on the clavicle fracture. If an orthopedic surgeon thinks he/she can repair it with plates and screws, I'd recommend doing it. No one wants surgery, and clavicles often heal on their own, but a surgical repair will give you the best chance for a complete return to normal.

I broke my right clavicle last January. The fracture was too severe to repair surgically. Too many pieces to plate. My shoulder is significantly crushed, and I have frequent issues with pressure on the nerves to my arm and hand. I wish the fracture had been repairable.

In its current state, it is truly a unique piece. I would frame it and keep it as is. Not many Rolex watches can tell the story that one can.

Damn! Nice job you're still in one piece. Never mind the watch.

Been in a few motorcycle accidents myself and they're never a good day out.

If RSC can rebuild that I will be amazed. Take the insurance money, buy a new one, and hang whats left of that bad boy in a picture box.

That reminds me of Richard Hammond's Submariner after he crashed that supercar in Switzerland.

Good that you have no major issues. There are always more watches and money to be made, if one is healthy.

From one HD rider to another, glad you are alive to tell story. I’ve been on the ground too. Best of luck w recovery!
As far as repairing the watch, if you have insurance, I’d consider filling a claim and keep the damaged one as a conversation piece.

Holy Smokes! First... Thank god you were okay.

Second... I hope the watch was insured because I'd imagine it's not going to be cheap.

Third... Best bet is to send it off to RSC and see what they come back with.

I'm glad to hear you made it out alive, sorry about your watch and the bike.

Hopefully all internal components will be ok after such a hard hit.

How is the condition of the bracelet is it badly scratched up as well?

I've filed a few loss claims from theft. I carry replacement value on of PAF (Personal Articles Floater - Camera Lenses & Watches). They would give me a depreciated cash settlement based on the current value. But if I wanted to replace it, they would pay in full for a new one.

But the important thing is that you are ok.

just read this thread. Going into a rond point (circular turn ) in a smal city in France a 12 summers ago...I fell pretty hard on my scooter as I hit a patch of diesel. Broke 2 ribs and got really scratched up...smashed my wrist so hard it busted up my Submariner.
Replaced the glass, bezel but it all still worked. The dial is scratched up a bit but I kept it to remind me of the accident. This watch is simply a tank..Im convinced it saved my wrist from getting broken.
I just got it serviced and they asked me if I wanted to change the dial...NO was my answer.
My daughter who was 6 was on the back seat and not a scratch!

Cape Cod cloth and a few passes with a scotch brite pad and it will look good as new!

Destroyed my YG DD in the 80s along with a new Harley Softail after a large German Shepard took out my front wheel. I was going 50MPH and the watch protected my wrist a bit when I went down. RSC repaired the watch but it was never right and I ended up selling it.
