BLNR vs Motorcycle Wreck
Hello all,
I was in a wreck while riding a Harley, hit the ground at about 50mph and was a rag doll for a couple hundred feet. Lucky to be alive and only have some sprains, road rash, and a broken collar bone. The Rolex, while tough as nails, wasn’t so lucky. Anyone able to ball park what Rolex might charge to fix? It’s a great story for the watch if its fixable! |

OMG, so glad to see you are ok. Experts will chime in on the cost of repairs but that must have been brutal.

Glad you survived. Looks like you will need at least a case, bezel assembly with insert, crystal, and a set of hands. It will be a bit pricey no doubt.

Glad you are ok... That is why I gave up riding bikes. Take care and hope you get fully well soon!

You are a lucky man! Your watch, not so lucky. If you have all-risk watch insurance you might try that.

That will make a great story if you decide to send it in to be repaired.
My guess... Bezel ~ $1,000 Crystal ~ $450 Hands ~ $250 Dial ~ $700 Refinishing of case and bracelet ~ $600 Total ~ $3,000 This is me pulling numbers out of my you know what. Let us know what the estimate comes out to be. |

Wow. Glad to hear you are ok. I'm sure they can repair the watch - even if it's practically like putting together a new one from all the parts they'll have to replace.
Good luck and stay safe. |

Man, lucky to survive and I wouldn't worry about the watch much at this stage. If you have watch insurance, it might help a lot!

Whoa. The silver lining is it’s a sports watch where none exist in the ADs cases so I’m guessing flip it for $100 over.
That’s gonna be pricey - whether it needs a new case would make all the difference in reviving is my guess. Most importantly, glad you are ok. |

Big Green, I am so happy to know that you are okay. I've been riding since I was 14 (now 51), so I hate hearing these stories ... but I am thankful that you are good.
Such a shame for such a beautiful watch. Seeing this reinforces my practice of wearing my G-shock when riding, skiing, boating/water skiing, etc. I agree that if the watch is fixable, do it and have a wonderful storied watch on your wrist that has seen your worst times and many more good times. |

Thanks all! To answer a few questions... the watch is currently a time stamp of the accident and nothing more.
The bike was put on a flat bed and hauled off... rented while traveling in the desert. Both bike and watch were fully insured! Debating between replacement, and displaying the watch with helmet as a reminder of good fortune and not to push my luck (and ride, ever) again.... or fixing it up for the story. |

Gosh! Good to hear you are ok compared to your watch: looks totalled to me may be worth claiming on your insurance, home or bike

Wowzers. Based on your description it sounds like you and the watch look about the same. Very sorry to hear this.
I hate to ask, but was this your fault? Can you add this to an insurance claim? I sure would try. E- |

No others involved, riding at sunset and cars in front hit the brakes, when i hit my brakes there was sand on the road and lost control immediately.

Glad to hear you pulled through of course.
I vote for leaving the watch as-is and displaying it with the helmet. That’s what I’d do anyway. It tells more about how brutal the crash was than any words could! Quote:
