Almost too easy when you are drunk. With explosives inside. 😂😂

I have a buddy that prefers his old manual lock for that exact reason. But I like my S&G electronic lock as well.

Buy beyond prohibited topics, if someone has you at gunpoint, you just simply give them what they want - safe or no safe. No possession is worth your life. Safes are not designed to protect against armed robbery. They are meant to protect against smash-and-grabs, quickie burglaries (the most common type), and other instances when additional time, noise, or nuisance is too much for the prospective thief to deal with.

If someone has the time, the space to make noise, and the desire, they can get inside pretty much any safe. But those aren't the type of people you have a safe to protect against.

I put big safe in the house and bolted it down to the concrete foundation. The only thing I put in there was a hand-written note that says, "got ya!! Please lock up when you leave".

Get a safe. I have one for all of our important stuff...watches, jewelry, birth certs, insurance papers, etc. it weighs about 400lbs.

If someone really wanted to take it they could but it will deter most...

I agree sir but to clarify...a "home invasion" is when the occupants of the home are present. Perpetrators that are willing to move forward with a home invasion are typically VERY more violent and dangerous individuals than your common thief. This is by far the worst case scenario, no matter who you are or how many guns/safes you have!

But instead, he focused on the couple of hundred quid earrings, rings and necklaces. It was still a big loss as a total, but he could have taken a lot more.
Even with insurance, makes sense to protect jewelry and watches in a safe to protect from thieves that are just looking for something to grab easily and go.

I keep mine on 3 quad winders in our bedroom. We live on the top floor of a high rise building with 24 hour security, and it's unlikely a thief is going to get in.

A 1,000 pound safe, bolted into concrete.

While I have a large safety deposit box as well, prefer the convenience of all my items readily accessible.

And no worries about surprises at my front door when I open it. Beveled glass panel on front door, with beveled glass side panels. I can usually see them long before they see me and seldom do approach when a stranger present where I cannot see his hands and where I cannot retaliat with equal force. If they break the glass to get in either through front door or any of my multiple sliding glass doors, it will be the second to last loud sound they ever hear again.

Two Tiered Strategy:

Layer 1: 7-Day a week access bank, 10 minutes from home with a safety deposit box for watches, jewelry and important papers
Layer 2: Jewelers Mutual Insurance policy

I never keep more than two watches at home and none are at home when we travel (beyond what I am wearing on the trip). Yes, there is some inconvenience, but the box costs $75/year.

Nice way to put it; in my case:

Layer 1: Home security alarm with 24hr alarming through central station.
Layer 2: Home security safe, bolted to concrete, hidden.
Layer 3: Home insurance with jewelry policy.

One on the wrist, the rest in a safe deposit box at the bank.

the best way would be to insure the collection, criminals can just make you open the safe or watch you when you pick it up from deposit box, also when wearing a flashy piece you make yourself a target.

Absolutely. A fire rated safe with important papers inside and watch winder inside when nobody is home. It is a cheap smart piece of insurance.

I have a safe the size of a kitchen fridge bolted into the concrete slab with 4 inch lag bolts 4x. It weighs 1000 pounds empty and has big metal cabinets between it to help against side attack. I keep a banner from the local professional sports team over it and if you walked in the garage your never would look twice at it. Has a dehumidifier rod in it even though I don't have humidity where I live. I wear my watch and my wife wears her ring every day so I don't put it in there. I do keep all my important papers in there. House deed, estate planning, old tax returns, passports seeing and birth certs, car pink slips. My Rolex and my wife's wedding ring is insured for a generous insurance amount for everything from robbery to "mysterious disappearance". While I'm sure I would be heartbroken to lose my watch or my wife her wedding ring, it's just stuff.

At least where I live, the majority of home invasions start when the resident is away. I have a safe, but I also have a monitored security system and cameras. Nothing is absolute, but I've tried to make seruptitious entry difficult.

Run as fast as you can from that POS. The owner of the store I manage bought one for us to put the rolled change in so that we could get it easier than getting into the BIG safes in the back. It was about 3 years old when the hinges came unglued, yes I said unglued not broken welds, from the cabinet itself and allowed the door to fall to the floor. It can easily be picked up and for the hell of it I managed to attach the door and see what it took to break in. Less than 5 minutes with a 16oz claw hammer and a 16" pry bar. Don't waste your money. Spend the coin and buy something worthy of holding your valuables. A few grand is cheap insurance for heirlooms, watches, hand held unmentionable, etc. and a good one will be here in 200 years for your great great grandkids to use and be thankful for. Just my 2 cents.

I have an indoor cctv camera which I bought from calgary alarms next to my safe. Its pretty cool because even if the burglars do attempt to break in they couldn’t be able to tamper with the alarm system as it is pretty high up and also has an armor coat which makes it tamper resistant. It even has an infrared which makes the night vision recordings clear to see.
