Roger Moore possessed a suave quality (bordering and crossing the line of cheese!) that I grew up with on the Bond films. He's my favorite by far, as I feel he--more than any other--had FUN with the role. After all, isn't that what it's about? A little escape? Come on . . . does anyone actually believe Bond is ever in danger? Is he really EVER going to die? Nope. So why not play it for all it's worth and enjoy the ride.

PS Craig may yet prove to be the best ever. I think his character's transformation from a loving, caring man to the JAMES BOND we know in Casino Royale was absolutely brilliant.

To my mind, no question Sean Connery is the best ever. And that includes Daniel Craig. As good as Craig is, he just doesn't possess that je ne sais quoi that Connery had. Connery had the edge, the toughness, but also the grace and animal magnetism.

As for Moore, I like all Bond movies on some level, but he's easily the weakest. He just wasn't believable in the role. I never believed him doing backflips on skis, dancing across the heads of alligators or any of the other stuff they had him doing in his movies.

Still, Live and Let Die and The Man With the Golden Gun were pretty good movies. By that time, the movies had become infused with too much glibness and cheesy one-liners, which was not Moore's fault, of course.

Connery in my opinion has also aged well into films, he still gets really good roles and he is as big as ever. I liked him in league of extraordinary gentlemen.

Going to have to sorta disagree with you JJ...I liked RM as JB ....he injected some humor in it.
The worst JB to me is the new one.....something about him I just dont like.....then I read he wants Bond to do a Gay scene ...WTF!!!
Maybe thats it and his next Bond film should be titled "the spy who came out of the closet"
I had hopes for him but the last one he did, QOS should have been POS IMHO....I lasted about 20 mins into the movie and turned it off when the "villian's" sidekick looked like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber.
I dislike him so much I wont even watch anymore Bond flicks until he goes.
Sean was the best Bond but I wont rule out Roger and in second place....then PB, GL, TD
and then DC would be in last place IMHO

The worst Bond had to be George Lazenby in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." In my opinion, there was only one real Bond, Sean Connery - smooth, sophisticated, self-confident and strikingly attractive. I own all the "James Bond" series in which Connery starred, most of the others didn't impact me in the same way.

Have to agree to a certain extent, Faith.

Lazenby happened to come along when Connery was just about fed up of the role...........and I think Lazenby just happened to be the wrong man in the right film!!

As a kid, I LOVED "Spy Who Loved Me." I wanted a Lotus Esprit Submarine, an underwater fortress and even the floating escape pod! Sure it's lacking substance, but it was my favorite Bond movie in my early teen years!

Maybe, David..............but if you watch it today, you will find not only the acting wooden and terrible, but also the gadgetry is all corn, the dialogue sucks and the horrible story line just about wraps it up.

I remember reading an interview with Roger Moore, who realised he had to take the role in a lighter more amusing way, as even he knew he was to old to play it to seriously. His son was also interviewed, who said, imagine being at school and your dad IS James Bond..

Roger was once told that he would never get an oscar, but that he would also never be out o work...

My son grew up with Roger Moore as bond, and actually likes him the best, which shows that the films have been targeted correctly at the time they were made. I guess.

The Spy Who Loved Me is a classic! The first introduction to Jaws and the aforementioned Barbara Bach's 'assets'? Plus the submarine Lotus and the villan having people eaten by sharks? Man, it's a great one.

I agree with you on that... If Sean Connery would have done OHMSS and maybe Lazenby "Diamonds are Forever" it would have been better... IMHO

Personally I don't dislike any Bond film, new or old. But The one is that is least favorite is The Man with the Golden Gun... It's too umm CHEAP! Only part good is when Roger Moore is in front of the club and takes a glimpse of his Submariner! U can see me playing that part back and forth! Christopher Lee (I think) suits the roll of Scaramanga quite good! Britt Ekland also! But the movie is just... not my taste...

Reese Witherspoon is Oscar material and, in fact, did win the Best Actress Oscar in that Johnny Cash film with Joaquim Phoenix!!
