I think most people know cheap junk comes from China. There are also plenty of Western dealers buying those Chinese copies for $20 on Aliexpress or wherever and selling them on eBay for $50 or $75, and passing them off as made in Europe or USA or wherever.

The European and US dealers who re-sells them are almost worse than the companies in China who sells the copies...

Luckily the US and Europe companies we can often shut down.

Watch Stand

Just picked up one of these from Amazon -

Kloware Handcrafted Leather & Marble Watch Display Stand, Sturdy and Stable Marble Base, PU Leather Holder, Noble Luxury and Eye Catching https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GLZYWSF...A5VQ8MQSHK7E8C

$23.99 plus 10% off and free shipping.

Editing this as I scrolled up to read more of the thread - not trying to take anything away from the person that invented this design. Personally I didn’t do much research just went to google and googled - watch stand - others came up along with this particular one from Amazon.

I see the stand point and spot you are in -

MB&F Robots are awesome. I guess some people will still want an Applebee's meal though.

What do you specifically have a patent on? I've seen stands like this for the past 40 years.

You have not seen our particurlar shape before. It's like a design chair. You have seen chairs before but if someone makes a specific design it can be patented.

Here is an example of our WIPO design patent for our duo stand in Japan.

Why not buy product of equal quality for one third the cost? This Soran guy may well be obtaining from the same sources and taking breathtaking mark-ups.

Patent, schmatent! You're busted pal ----- charging $250 for a $50 product just isn't going to fly around here. The suckers are elsewhere.

I'm not trying to convince anyone, I'm just stating the facts so people can make well informed decisions when they buy.

By the way, no, our products are not made in China.

The point I (and others) are suggesting is that your stand can easily be viewed as overpriced in that there are others of equal, or very nearly equal quality that are quite a bit more reasonably priced.

Well I for one enjoy my "overpriced" watch stand and am happy to be supporting a small business, and one that actively participates in our forum. Keep doing what you're doing.

For such an expensive watch, I am looking for a stand to protect it from any surface scratches. I also have kids.

Just a simple stand

I put this one together recently. Made of Walnut, from smaller scraps I had in my home woodshop. I added an ultra suede pad, and I really like it how it turned out, considering wood was free, and not too much labor to make one. Cheers.

So a shop based in Europe, with R&D, marketing, taxes, employees, website, ... the usual overhead that means you can't sell these for 20 USD/EURO. You simply can't. You're likely already looking at 100 euro minimum to keep everything going.
You're spot on. I have a small leather goods business and people quickly forget that cost of goods is a fraction of total cost, especially for small businesses. It costs time and money to ideate / concept, research suppliers and order samples, make a gazillion prototypes until it's perfect, file patent and other legal paperwork, develop and source premium packaging, build a website with professional photography, market to potential customers (I found The Watch Stand via an Instagram targeted ad by the way), scale manufacturing in EU and build up inventory, etc. The seller on Alibaba is skipping most all these steps... and that's not even considering import/export headwinds. It's no wonder they can sell for so much less.

You can make this argument for pretty much any luxury brand. Take an alligator Hermes wallet for example: I can order a grade 1 alligator skin from American Tanning (their alligator supplier), a goatskin from Alran (their French goatskin lining supplier), some thread from Fil Au Chinois (their thread supplier) and saddle stitch a counterfeit one using the exact same materials at very nearly equal quality, all for ~15-20% of what Hermes would charge. Does this mean Hermes is "busted" and only "suckers" would shop there rather than buy my product for less?
