I like. Feels more inclusive than… 14060, 16710, 16570, etc…

The choices are too narrow for my vote.
Some nicknames have evolved naturally and all but the most extreme pedants will effortlessly slide in and out of nicknames, full model names, reference numbers, including every SA I have ever spoken to, some unprompted. I don't mind these at all. I don't notice them. In conversation with an SA at my AD last week, he asked about my Root Beer. I never call my CHNR that. I think it's inaccurate. But the important thing was that I instantly knew what he meant and the conversation continued to flow uninterrupted. The nicknames that some people want to force onto models, often on the day of launch, tend to be silly and meaningless. But there is some utility in even this - if I see a thread title with a ridiculous nickname in it, or an OP using it, I just ignore the thread. Easy. Where's the harm? I'm still looking for the perfect Evil Nina. |

I was always okay with Hulk, Batman, Bluesy, Pepsi, and Coke. I have used all of these on TRF. However, like others, I think Batgirl, Sprite, and Starbucks are lame. Especially Batgirl because it’s a more masculine looking watch than Pepsi IMHO. Beyond that, I see myself as having a moderate position on the use of nicknames. I could take it or leave it as is. That’s why I responded the way I did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't know the reference numbers of Rolex watches and can't be bothered to learn them, the nicknames point me into the right direction if someone is chatting about one without photos in the post. Besides that, I don't really like them.

I hate them, but you all can do what you like. I just don’t use them.

I believe it demeans and cheapens the brand.
Just one reason why my interest in this brand is all but gone

Juvenile maybe. But disrespectful? And trivialize the brand?

I guess I’m somewhere in between.
They don’t fuss me like some, but I prefer to use reference numbers. |

Have to agree I can live with the old Coke, Pepsi, and Root Beer, as they have been around for many decades, but most of these child like comic book stupid names today for Rolex watches, they all seem to make Rolex watches into more like Micky-mouse watches. Myself been learning about the history of the RWC for well over 50 years, and wearing and enjoying wearing Rolex watches almost daily over those years and all without the use of most of todays stupid nicknames.

If that full yellow gold green dial+bezel Sub is released I’m gonna make “She-Hulk” stick.

Some work, some are weird. The one I happen to really like is pepsi, better than saying blue red or whatever.

They are getting ever more strained and cutesy. Their use diminishes the user.

As others have mentioned, I can't remember the reference numbers, so nick names are OK by me.

I'm generally agnostic about the nicknames, but like some and dislike others.

I honestly dislike the nicknames, however I have used them... It seems very stupid especially when they try to name two different subs Kermit... If I where a fan of the BLNR on a Jubilee and they called it batgirl I would be pissed jajaja..

When I was on the forum back in 2006 the only nicknames I remember were "Bluesey", "Panda" and "Paul Newman" Did I miss something back then or is this a relatively new thing?
