I was told this years and years ago. And it stuck even though others over the years have told me it doesn't apply to Rolexes. But I think it's good to remember this if you have other watch brands with different types of movements. It prevents you from forgetting about them

My habit makes me do this. Adjust time where hour hand is to 6. Change date to date one day early. Then advance time until date jumps and is to your desired time.

Old habits die hard. Man I am getting old.

Don't change the date between 10PM - 2AM?

So, I FULLY understand that it is safe to adjust time around midnight on modern Rolexes... But I will say that as I did just that last night, I really felt a lot of resistance when trying to go counterclockwise. It was right at midnight and I also realized that the date had already switched to the next day whenever the date typically switches at 5 past midnight.
Watch is functioning well though... As expected. :)

It does NOT engage the date disk gears as on ETA and some other based movements. If you read an Omega manual, it specifically warns against this.. You won't find that warning in a Rolex manual.

Rolex uses a cam and lever for the date change.. Nothing is engaged, but when the main wheel reaches midnight a cam rolls into a slot releasing a spring loaded lever that slaps the date over one day.. thus, no gears to break..
Wow...talk about reviving an old thread! Either way, Tools explanation above pretty much somes it up. Definitely applies to an ETA Valjout 7750 for example, but not at all to your Rolex!

But you revived an old thread, so everyone will be answering the OP, not you, because few people check the OP date or read the whole thread. Start a new one if you need specific answers/comments.
