Ok I'll be honest, I don't like the new shape. Sorry guys. The way it catches the light at the top and bottom of the face where the endlink is is somehow too pronounced for my liking. Like a consistent bar. If you like it, all the more power to you. All the better if yo like both, but your addiction will ultimately be more costly than mine! Hahahah!

I like both cases, I did not like the non-maxi dial 16610. So the LV got my approval, but LN didn't.
Case is barely noticeable to me.

It takes me awhile to warm up to change. I had a chance to see the SubC in person at my AD and liked it. Looking at side by side pictures is not the same, you really need to see in person. I was hoping there might be a 114060 release at Basel, as I seem to prefer the non cyclops look of my SD. The AR cyclops is a nice improvement. Still not ready to make the move but will probably come around.

This really is beating a dead horse.
If you don't like it, there are plenty floating around on the second hand market. If you do, its here to stay. I don't see the obsession over the particular topic |

In this case, John, I think the OP is just trying to get a feel for the numbers. You're exactly right, there have been a ton of posts and entire threads floating around about this subject, and I think the OP just wanted to weed through all that and get feel for the numbers for and numbers against.

I resemble this remark. When given the choice, the solid center link bracelet just does it. On a more cerebral level the new clasp just feels better than the tried and true clasp of the older models. It's this subjective peace of mind that would make me choose the supercase model, despite the more fluid lines of the former.

I like both but do prefer the larger "look" of the supercase whiel allowing the watch to remain at 40mm. I think this was the intent by Rolex and believe they achieved what they set out to do

I like them both. Although I got the SubC first, I do have plans to get a non-ceramic in the future.

I don't mind the size, but dislike the weight.

I like the the maxi case and the ceramic bezel (and I'll probably add the LV over the next year) and I like the earlier versions without the maxi case (and I'll propbably keep mine).....but for whatever reason I do not have a desire for a ceramic sub without the maxi case (so I had no problem voting).

I have tried and tried to love the Supercase. I figured I need to give it time, and in a few months I'll come to like it. It didn't work. For me, the GMT IIc and new Sub are disproportionate and square or block looking. Their not ugly by any means.... they are just not what they should be. I just can't get past the thick lugs.
There is hope! With the 42mm diameter of the 216570 Exp II the fat lugs are now back in proportion.

The huge majority of the subjects treated on this forum are near useless...
It is just to finish with the "i like" / "i don't like" with everyone trying to convince everyone. My aim was to know how many: because if there is more "against" than "for", then rolex should not have done this modification. The answers, isolated, are subjective... Not mass numbers. The subject is closed, over, when numbers are out: that is a fact, not a rumor.

I had a look in my local AD this weekend, and to my surprise they had a new Submariner LV in the window. I love the dial & bezel but in the flesh the case, especially the lugs, just don't go with the bracelet. It just looks really awkward particularly when there are some very elegant older models sat next to it in the window. If I had a spare £5k I would get the previous Submariner LV in a heartbeat.

I think my "NEW" Maxi Sub is the best it can be and i think it is going to look this way for many years to come.
Lets face it Rolex will never go backwards so if you don't like it just buy an old model if you do get the new one and enjoy both. P.s It's great to see a quality bracelet on the watch at last!! (Solid not a bit of stamped out rattly metal) |
