David Oscarsson on Swedish television this morning!

David Oscarsson, a famous pen designer, was on TV this morning. He had brought several pens with him, some which I think Yume-sama might have. The reporter actually had a really nice pen he bought from David a couple of years ago. David seemed to be a really nice guy, and although he had only lived in Sweden for a couple of years, he spoke perfect Swedish. He also said that he wanted to move here one day . I actually took some pictures of the pens - do you think it is okay to post them here?

Alright, I'll do it in a couple of minutes. I need to upload the pictures first.

By the way, David Oscarsson had apparently released a new version, dedicated to a famous Swede called Alfred Nobel. It was uncovered in London yesterday and it looked beautiful.

As said, pictures to follow

He is a nice guy, and yes, is Swedish. He presents one of each pens he makes to the King of Sweden. They have dinner together often. Now, though, he lives in St. Louis MO with his family, who he uses in all of his advertising. I would love to see the pictures! I have a high-res image of the Nobel pen, and if he indeed has made it public now, I could probably share it.

Here is the brochure image for the Nobel Pen, limited to 63 pieces (Mr. Nobel lived for 63 years). It may have changed, as it is a few months old.

He was given permission by the Nobel Foundation to use the name, royalty free.

I love that Alfred Nobel version. The image on the barrel (the "bang") is awesome! Do you know what it says on the bottom of the pen?

He spoke about his family, and that he had dedicated the "Consider the Lilies" to his daughters (or gotten the inspiration). He also said that he got his inspiration to most of his pens when he was out jogging. Cool that he meets king Carl XVI Gustaf! Does that mean the King has all of his pens?

I'm uploading the pictures as we speak.

The first pen he presented the king was the Valhalla, and since then the King has been quite the collector. He gets them for free, all he has to do is have dinner with him.

The king got this, only in a special, one off, "Royal Blue" color.

Also, I believe it says "David Oscarson" on the bottom of the cap, as all of his pens do.

Here are all the photographs. I don't know how well you can see the pens; it's not a high-definition channel.

More coming...

Here is the new Alfred Nobel version, as Yume-sama said, limited to 63:

It looks fabulous IMO.

"It says something on the back", the reporter said.

It says "Warning, 'tändhattar', Danger" (Tändhattar is a word related to dynamite I believe):

Hope you liked them!

They are amazing pieces of art. The reporter asked if people actually uses them, seeing that they are so valuable. David said yes, and that they were made to be used. He did say they were fragile, but also that they would repair the pen for free.

Have you met David Oscarson in person Yume?

Yes, and I have plans to meet him for lunch sometime soon, again

He is always extremely well dressed, using his own cufflinks (each pen has a pair of cufflinks that match, if you want to buy them) and at least two of his pens stuck in his front pocket.

Cool! When you meet him, say "Hej, trevligt att se dig igen" (Hi, nice to see you again ).

I could tell that he was well dressed and I assume he has a nice watch too (I can't really tell by the photographs, but it looks nice). Have you ever tried or seen those "special special" edition pens, with diamonds all over?

Each one of those sells for over $100,000 and every single one ever made has been bought by the same lady, for her husband.

I personally have little respect for his works.

I am a purist.

Give me "normal" writing istruments.

We could only hope for more.................. !

I have full respect for your opinion. But having heard how extremely complex and long the process of making one is, I have to say that they are pieces of art, more then pens perhaps.

Yes, I think they are works of art.

Accordingly, beauty is really in the eye of the beholder.

Although I do consider the pens beautiful, and I appreciate them for that, I'm afraid they are beyond my reach.

However, who ever said one has to own a work of art to appreciate it.

Now where is my Montblanc that I can hold I suppose to a great many Montblanc is in the same position vis-a-vis a $2.50 Uniball.
