Difference in accuracy on the wrist and off?

I confess, I have an OCD fascination with accuracy. Has anyone else noticed the difference, sometimes significant difference in the accuracy of your Rolex on and off your wrist? And when off your wrist, the differences depending on how you position the watch?

I have found both my GMT's to be spot on +1 sec/day when worn non stop. That accuracy diminishes when not worn, but still with a full wind.

Good observation and you are absolutely spot-on with that!!

My new TT GMT-IIC keeps virtually ZERO deviation time while on the wrist, but does tend to lose a second when placed crown up overnight on the dresser.

On the wrist, the watch gets its OPTIMUM winding from the different angles of the wrist movement (still the best way to wind your watch!!).

An automatic watch will almost always run a bit faster when worn..

The movement of your wrist and the action of centripetal motion on the hairspring stops it from swinging fully in one direction or the other. Therefore, that amplitude (swing rotation) of the balance is less; - less swing, quicker tick-tock.......

Sitting idle or on a winder, the only force is gravity so the balance swings fully.. A full swing takes longer and so the time between ticks is more and the watch is slightly slower (but more consistent in this mode).
