As long as we're on the subject of the new clasp... does anyone have experience with both versions? My "Z" has the older model... is the newer one that much better or more comfortable?

I've got an oppurtunity to upgrade at a decent price but want to know if it's worth the money.

My V has the new clasp and while I had nothing to compare it to, it really is awesome. Very substantial!

I have owned both and like the new one much better - it's a lot stronger and more reliable. The only advantage of the old one is that it's unique to Daytona.

I have had the old one and now the new . Closed you can't really tell the difference that easily . I somehow prefer the new , it opens and closes smoother . I don't think that it is worth spending much money to change it . keep it original , your warranty card should tell the original clasp number : 78490 for the old against the 78590 for the new and about 500 usd in RRP .

The new one also has the snap-in/snap-out extender and I do not think the old has that feature, but I may be wrong. This feature allows on the fly adjustment of about 2mm for when the seasons change.

The old one has it too. It's called the EasyLink

Yes, the new clasp is better engineered. However, the old one has never failed in the last 8 years.

Thanks everyone for the info... it seems like the new one might be a bit better, but not worth spending the money or messing with mine, I'll keep the old.

I have exactly the same clasp code on my V serial SS Daytona (PJ2).
What are the first 3 digits of your serial number?

My V0 serial has the old clasp. Swapped out the clasp from my GMT once to try it. More substantial, but I liked the bulkier clasp better on the GMT and sleeker clasp with the sleeker Daytona case.

I have both V and M clasps. The M is more comfortable, but V seems stouter. Both are much nicer than the outer "sub" type clasp.

just my $.02,

Mike
