GMT's for lunch

Had lunch with a friend today (Rocco1109 a.k.a. Will) to catch up and show him my 'new' 1675...so he brought his along too.
Mine: 2.9M serial, II.71 caseback stamp, currently on a NATO
His: 5.7M serial, ?.77 caseback stamp, currently on a jubilee from a vintage Datejust

Some interesting things we noticed- The 'GMT-Master & SCOC' text was the same font (no 'leg' on the G & slight serifs on the M's), but it was much thicker on my dial, his bezel (metal portion w/ the grooves) was taller/thicker when viewed in profile, slight difference in the case shape (slight curvature on the bottom of mine where his was more straight), and the numbers on the datewheel (both silver 'open 6') seemed to be larger on mine...not sure if this last one is due to the cyclops or if the printing is indeed different. Also interesting to note (not as obvious in the photo as in person) how the blues have faded differently...his is almost turquoise! And the patina between the two was almost identical- pretty neat stuff.
Hope you enjoy my BBQ-Joint table-top paper napkin shot!

Great to see two "old warriors" togehter. Isn't it amazing the different "personalities" two vintage pieces can have?

One of the things that makes this hobby so much fun.

Yup...Those serifs on the bezel inserts are dead giveaways...Wonder how hard they are to get / match up with the right vintage?

I think Mike posted a comparison shot showing many Pepsi bezel insert variations over the years.
