Let's Talk About RG vs. YG DDs....

Guys/Gals,

Well, I still have gold on the brain.....though I have no immediate plans to purchase one, unfortunately

Today I tried on a RG DD with rose diamond dial, fluted bezel, and presidential bracelet.....WOW! A stunner. Also tried on the everose Daytona again and it's definitely a beautiful watch, but the dial is a bit dark for me.

My mom was with me, and both she and the sales woman agree that RG suits me better than YG since I'm somewhat fair skinned. It does have a lovely warmth to it. My thing is, whenever I think of a DD, I think of the traditional YG version, though I suppose it is blingier and commands more attention (maybe not a good thing?).

So what do you all think of RG vs. YG DDs? Photos and personal stories welcome

By the way, this is a pic (borrowed) of the DD dial I tried....though this one has a smooth bezel and is on oyster.....I do prefer fluted and presidential

I think I have a platty DD coming and respect the YG version, but my all time favorite DD without question is RG with the Bark bracelet.

Yes, it is a beauty for sure. I don't think Rolex makes the DD with oyster bracelet anymore actually.

I like the RG but I wanted to stay with the old traditional look of a YG Prez. My vote has to go to YG.

Sorry Karis, Yellow Gold is the only way to go.
Rose Gold looks like copper to me, and doesn't have that GOLD 'feeling' to it. I chose the one and only Yellow Gold... especially if it's a full gold model like the DD.

Karis, I've got a YG President. I love it, and it gets more compliments than any of my watches. That said, looking at that RG President on the oyster with the smooth bezel......sheesh, that's a good lookin' watch. I could be persuaded to go with that - the traditional President may need a cool update, and that RG smooth-bezeled oyster is the perfect thing. I know you aren't even considering it, but man.......that is a stunning watch.

Let us know what you decide, please.

I used to think that the RG looked coppery as well, but today it looked quite nice on....

It's tough isn't it?! There are so many options. Wait, I sound like I'm actually shopping right now to buy don't I?! Silly me!!! I guess I just want to know which 'one' to have in mind and work towards....

if you want an Oyster on a President it can be tough to find. Rolex will no longer offer this combination.

I love the Rose Gold....exactly the same as your borrowed pic but with the rose diamond dial. Beautiful!!!!

With the fluted bezel and presidential bracelet, i think it will be stunning....but the rose dial with diamonds is what makes it for me.

I think all DD's are classy, elegant watches - the ultimate statement. My boss (VP of Sales) wears one and it is simply without equal.

I love both, RG with a smooth bezel and black mother of pearl was very temping for me, but in the end, as you already know, I plumped for the YG pres. I'm very happy with it, and its not as flash as you'd think when its on the wrist. Maybe 2010 could be your DD year Karis!
