Blue Bull ~ an introduction
Hey,Chris van Niekerk is the name.38 years old.Anesthesiologist from ,Vereeniging ,South Africa.Married to Marika,Family Physician. She also have special interest in Cosmetic Dermatology. We have two wonderful kids ~ Chris (6 years) and Mariska (3 years). We live on a farm next to the Vaalriver,90 km south of Johannesburg.
Rolex has tickled my fancy from a very young age.Owning one has always been a dream.I guess it has to do with the quality, timeless designs and the history. At the age of 31,after specialising, I bought my first one,a GMT II ss,red/black bezel.I wore that for 5 years. At the same time ,my wife bought a Ladies DJ,TT,white face,Roman numericals. We had a break in ,Dec 2005 and unfortuanately, her watch was stolen . She has not replaced it,yet, all in good time .. Other priorities at the moment. That loss and heartache will be cured.Something to look forward too,for the future... My work as an Anesthesiologist are about 50% for open heart surgery.Due to work hours,my free time is limited, but somehow we create some time for photography, high end audio and my newest passion,1/4 mile drags on my quadbike .. I have been a member for a day or two now and already, I feel more than welcome.I am here to share the little knowledge I have about Rolex, but more importantly to learn more about these very special instruments.I have already seen, that there are members here with an absolute wealth of knowledge, acquired over decades. Glad to be a member of this forum. |

Thanks for the introduction, Chris. I believe you will fit right in here, although that could be a dubious distinction!

Hi Chris welcome to TRF myself just had a close encounter with a very nice lady Anaesthesiologist. In a resent operation, at my last op a few years ago they said I was impossible intubation and they gave me a card to carry around. So on my last visit gave the card to the very nice Anaesthesiologist. And they used a awake fibreopic technique, was not very pleasant getting the tube down. And was glad when she said ok Peter all finished, we will put you to sleep now.

"Awake fibreoptic intubation" , not pleasant Padi, not at all ...but the safest way of securing the airway for the very difficult airway.
Remember to always tell your Anaesthesiologist, about this for any future procedures .... it is VERY important. Do you have her name and number, you know, just for some sharing of "professional" ideas and so on and so forth ... |

Hello Chris...
A big welcome to TRF. I have a few South African friends where I work. In fact, my first boss (The Registrar of the museum where I work) was SA. The most wonderful and gentle person I've worked for. She is now a nun in a convent somewhere in the South of my country. I still miss her! I've even had the pleasure of tasting some of your excellent food!! Enjoy your stay here on this forum and do post some pics when you can. Cheers - JJ

If you stick around long enough, might we be able to procure your services for a few members around here?

Welcome aboard, Chris!
Gotta say, though, I really dunno what kind of anaesthesiologist you are - you're not putting anybody to sleep yet!
