Obligatory newbie hello

Hi all. I've been lurking here for the better part of a month, laughing out loud at some of the back and forth, getting funny looks from the Mrs. Anyway, I figured I'd join the merry group and also be able to pick your collective brains now and in the future in terms of purchases.

I have only the single Rolex, inherited from my dad. It's a 1675 GMT Master, Pepsi bezel, Serial #20xxxxx. From the links section here at the forum, I found that this places the watch as being made sometime in the late 60's. I tried to take a pic, but my camera's not real good with the close range stuff. I also just received his old Omega Constellation, no date, that my mom said was his everyday watch prior to the GMT. Gotta get that one into the shop for recommissioning, so to speak.

I am currently looking to pick up another, more modern Rolie, and am torn between the TT Sub with either the blue dial or the champagne diamond dial. Then again, the TT GMT II with the black diamond dial with rubies at 6, 9 and 12 looks damned fine too. Since my 1675 is a SS, I am looking for something TT, at least, for more dressy occasions.

Anyway, sorry for the long intro post, but I will close with the apparent required smiley:

Hello Darren....

A big and warm welcome to TRF, pal!!

You have a great vintage watch in the GMT as well as the OMEGA. Try and make some kind of an effort to post some pics!! We love pics!!

As for the TT choice.....the TT Blue Sub would be an excellent choice, but there are others out there too. You would need to check each one out and see which one smiles back at you.

Good luck and keep posting.

JJ

Welcome to TRF, Darren. And as for another TT choice, here's a possibility...

Enjoy your time on TRF!!!

Welcome!! What a great couple of watches!!
My first watch was a 1675, what a great piece with a wonderfull history. The fact that it (and they) were your father's just make them priceless.

Since it's a TT your after, is luminosity a factor? The serti dials (stones) will be a bit lacking in that department. If it is something you want, I'd look at the TT blue sub--if you want a submariner. If a GMT, take a look at the new GMT with the maxi-dial--sweet!!

Thanks for the greetings all. I knew JJ'd be partial to the blue Sub , but he's not wrong about it being a great looking piece. And the Daytona was also an option, as well as the YM. Too much to choose from really. Makes it hard to narrow it down. I tried on a new TT DJ with a smooth bezel last night, but it wasn't smiling. I think I'm steering away from another GMT, just for a different style.

As for lume, it's a good point. My 1675 is dead in that area, so maybe that might be something to consider.

Here's a try at a pic (as you can see, it's not real good quality):
