Rolex Service in Chicago? Suggestions?

Hello,
I'm a new member from Chicago. I have a '64 Explorer 1, a '58 SS Air King and a '49 gold Oyster mid-size (present for my wife). I would really like to have them all serviced, but the most urgent is the mid-size. It's a future gift for my wife and I want it to be running well and clean when I give it to her.

I called the authorized service center here in Chicago. It's nice to know that they are "authorized" but they are also expensive. Maybe that's just the going rate. I' really don't know...I'm embarassed to say that I've never had any of my watches serviced.

Any recommendations on a watchmaker or service center in Chicago? I've been to Howard Frum. I know that Sutter is authorized. I of course want all original parts. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Rick

A standard rate to service a typical Rolex is $555. If you have a vintage that needs more parts and rare parts, it is easily doubled..

I coudn't think of any better places in the Chicago area..

Thanks Larry. Maybe I'll just suck it up. One thing I've seen on the boards here is that $550 every few years is a small price to pay to keep a watch running for lifetimes. I would agree with that. I was hoping that I'd have some money left over to purchase a custom leather strap for the mid-size, but that can wait. Thanks! R.
