Looking for the next Pam already... I'm sick....

Strongly considering a 270... It is so sweet - the 10-day movement is a dream of mine. Plus, in the same case as the 312 and the 320 - get to the bad part!

What do you guys think about that model? Any owners?

i helped a friend get a good price on one. He loves it and feels that the few extra dollars over a 233 is the way to go. It also helps to have a 10 day when you have a nice size collection as he stated to me recently. All that winding on some of his other watchs!!!

Mike,

if you don't mind me askin', what constitutes a 'good deal' on a 270?

I love 270.

Greg, I'm with you, 270 is so nice... I was offered from an AD for about 23% off MSRP, I don't know is it a good deal.

Very nice watch - imho worth going the extra over the 233, unless you really love manual winding.

Mike's friend Mark Theken has one... http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=114602

Cheers

I know Pam's manual wind is sweet, but I really want an automatic, I think.

The 233 dial looks more balanced
Prefer the dot over the am/pm
9 next to seconds subdial,not balanced by date on the 3 o'clock side.

What I do like about the 270:The 10 day auto and the slightly more heft.

GMT function on both,not my preference.I prefer a 24h hand for the GMT function.Fot that reason I hide the GMT hand behind the hour hand on my 289.Cleaner look to the dial.

233 > 270. Winding it once a week and watching the marker creep up is very cool. Also, the 233 is a bit sleeker profile than the 312 and 320. I thought the 270 was the same size but maybe it's not.

Just noticed something - since the 233 is considered 'historic', they don't have the easy strap system do they?

Just remeber this : Panerai, soooo much more than a watch.

Heru,

can you blame me? The Rolex is a love of mine, but I'm looking for affairs

Ok, side by side, I'm comparing both, and I think I like to see the '9'. Plus - 2 extra days and an automatic movement - I think the 270 has won me over....

270 is a sandwich dial, but being auto it's in the Contemporary collection.

233 is Historic and does not have the new quick strap change sysstem.

Cheers

Greg...

Love the 270/233/275 clan. One of those will be accompanying my 312 in the future. Gotta have the bubble.

Yep - that's another one in the 270 column! Must have the strap system!

Easy there, Ty! I believe ya - just the ones I've seen didn't.

Still, the absence of the '9' is making me lean toward the 270. But boy, it is close!

Not correct. You are getting the historics confused with the old historic nomencature. They just changed it this year.

Historics = Manual
Contemporary = Automaitic
Special = Anything they want

Actually the 233 was the first one to get the strap change system. It is the only "I" series watch with the system. Everything else started in J's and up.

Greg, you need to see them side by side. The 270 has a smaller font than the 233. I like the "dot" on the 233 more than the "AM/PM" on the 270, but I love the 9 on the 270. You can still wind the 270 manually.

With all that said, I'd be exstatic with either one, but I'm leaning towards the 270 b/c of the 9.

I have owned the 270 (it was my first PAM) about 9 months ago and I love it. It is still getting more wrist time than my 2 IWC's and my other PAM, a 93D.
