Tried on my first Panerai today!

Hey all, was at work at the AD as usual today, and had a gent come in to have a talk about the new Submariner. He had a beautiful PAM 312 on bracelet on his wrist, and I couldn't help but admire it! Had a real presence about it. We got chatting about it, and he let me try it on - I couldn't believe the weight of it! Even heavier than the Platinum Day-Date II I was playing with But I've been getting more and more intrigued by Panerai over recent months, and this has only fuelled the fire

It's bad enough having a Rolex disease, now I have a Panerai one too!

Thanks for reading

Chris

Interesting post Chris:

I've never really 'got' the whole Panerai thing but maybe I'll try one on some day....?

I was pleasantly surprised Dan, the build quality and attention to detail was clear, even from a brief try I can see why Rolex fans like them so much, the devil's in the detail with both brands

What does it tell you that the expert who was discussing the new Sub was wearing, not a Sub or other Rolex, but a Panerai 312. I really enjoy my Rolex, but can't imagine not owning a Panerai.

Chris, it's a slippery slope you know, first you try on someone elses, then you happen to see one in an AD, ......

fyi-a 312 on a bracelet could mean its a 328 and not a 312. they make 1000. 328's a year

Hard to appreciate until you see one for real. I admire them, but i'm still getting over Rolex-mania. I remember several years back breitling being this popular with Rolex fans. I told a Rolex buddy of mine that panerai is the new breitling. He couldn't agree more.

I love my 111...

PAMs are in many ways as beautiful and understated as some Rolexes...

Something is definitely up with Panerai, I bought 287 2 month ago and then last month ago i got a 312. Got so sucked in on how beautiful the dial is. I think it's the 6 on the panerai dial because it looks like those hypnotizing circles lol. The dilemma is now i'm crazy over deep sea now, time to sell some watches :(

LOVE my 312 (even with the very small ding I put on the crystal... ugh). On leather, it sits on the wrist very well. I can imagine it's heavy on a bracelet!

I rotate between the SD and the 312 every day. Perfect rotation for me - just very different and both tough watches. I traded my Deep Sea for the 312 and couldn't be happier with that decision (and I liked, but did not love, the DSSD).

Welcome to the new obsession!

Chris, this happened to me only last week! Exactly the same as you.

I have one waiting for me which I will pick up as soon as I sell my SD I have listed on the forum

Beautiful watch.

I dont get this love of Panerai either as i think some of them are quite ugly. On saying that the PAM 00297, GMT is quite an interesting watch.
