Anyone here have experience with USPS registered mail?

My watch got sent out from Ohio on monday morning via USPS registered mail and I checked my mailbox earlier today and nothing was there. About how long does it take packages to be sent via registered mail here in the contiguous 48 states?

you should be able to track it via internet...then you can see where its hiding out...its actually a lot of fun to do.

Registered mail is "slow boat" but considered to be one of the safest methods of shipping. Each person that handles the package/item must sign for it, so fairly secure.

It wouldn't be unusual for shipment to take 7-10 days. Also, I don't believe that it can be tracked, but possibly delivery confirmation (if option is chosen and paid for).

Hang in there!

IMHO The safest way to send but also very slow.A third party insurance company is also an option with an overnight courier next time.

Although it is the "safest" it is also the most unreliable when it comes to tracking. the only reliable part of the USPS tracking system is when it says "Delivered."

I used to be a warehouse manager when I was an jr. arms dealer, and we preferred to use UPS High Value ($1000+) as it had the same benefits of USPS Registered (signature at every transport point, full insurance), but the tracking system was MUCH more robust. Generally speaking the cost was better also.

Having dealt with the 3 major shippers (UPS, Fedex, USPS), I can count the number of issues I had with UPS on both hands over 5 years, whereas the other two had significantly more even though they were a fraction of the total packages. I used to boil it down to "you get what you pay for."

Don't worry about tracking. USPS Registered mail is slow, but it is quite secure. I have had a package take 10 business days to ship from the east coast to the west coast. However, it is fully insured and under lock and key. I only use USPS registered mail or USPS Express Overnight (can only insure up to $5,000).

Tracking and speed are nice, but not at the risk of losing a package........and it does happen with UPS and Fed-Ex.

Your package will take up to several days and the tracking is useless until it gets to you, but it's the most secure way to go!

Registered takes a few days vs. express (1-day). Tracking is horrible. But, the USPS hasn't failed me yet (knock on wood).

My LV came to me from my AD via USPS Registered mail. The distance was 60 miles...it took at least a week. The package is signed for many times and sometimes sits in a locked area waiting for personal attention. It's safe but it's slow.

Pay a few extra dollars and use USPS Express overnight delivery.

I had a watch stolen by a USPS worker. Never recovered. I only use UPS now, insured and track.

took 7 days from vegas to austin. they do update the tracking info when the package arrives at the destination city. it usually goes out for delivery on the same day, so you know when to expect it at home.

Registered is slow but safe!

Don't worry, what you lose in patience, you appreciate in security!

Once, I sent a bank cashiers check from Kentucky to Louisiana by USPS registered mail. It became "lost" and was never recovered . Fortunately, my bank stopped payment on the lost check and issued a new one to me. Then, I sent the new check by UPS which provided excellent tracking and next day delivery .
