Ultrasonic cleaner?

Hi - question for the experts: I bought my wife an ultrasonic cleaner for her jewelry. Manual says you can clean water resistant watches with it, but not sure if the 'ultrasonic waves' are good for the watch mechanics...

My instincts tell me that it's not good for the watch...

NEVER PUT THE HEAD IN THE WATER!

Only if you have completely broken the watch down, and need to clean the case, and bezel (minus the insert). The movement can get jacked up in a heart beat, as well as the insert.

Remove the bracelet, and put it in the ultrasonic, but hand wash the head.

I've had my ultrasonic cleaner for about 6 months now. Absolutely love it but as said previously, never put the head in the water. You can either take the bad off and put just that in the water. Also, mine came with a watch stand that keeps the head out of the water, I think most do.

just use soap and water or just dip the bracelet in if you must!

Anyone have any experience, opinions, preferences, or otherwise helpful comments concerning the use of ultrasonic cleaners with ammonia vs. those without ammonia? Thanks.

As what has already ben advised, I take off the bracelet and use the ultrasonic cleaner on it. The head should be washed by hand. I prefer soap and warm water, but have also sprayed it with "Scrubbin Bubbles" once just to try it out.

That works great, but Veggie wash is what I use. It gives the watch an extra shine, works great.

Sounds about right, Jeff.

Just don't forget to wash the head with soap and water.

Rolex suggests a soft brush and soap and warm water.

My AD will clean the bracelet with his ultrasonic cleaner for free or next to nothing if I take it in.

I really don't see a reason to use an ultrasonic cleaner on a regular basis.
