Charlie Sheen's Missing Watch

Charlie Sheen's Meltdown was over an Insanely valuable Patek Philippe 5970 Watch!!

It’s also the watch that Charlie Sheen claims was stolen from his hotel room after a coke-fueled encounter with a 22-year-old porn star. Nice, Charlie, real nice.

The undisputed champion of the watch world is the complicated Patek Philippe. Nobody, and we mean nobody, is going to knock you if they see a Patek with more than a few complications on the dial. The reference 5970 sits proudly in the lineup as Patek’s legendary combination of perpetual calendar and a chronograph. It costs as much as a Porsche 911 Turbo, there is a waiting list to get one, and it is just about the most historic and coveted modern timepiece in production today.
Vintage Patek perpetual chronos are now fetching upward of $1 million at auctions, and it can be assumed the 5970 is destined for the same greatness once it goes out of production.
The watch features Patek’s own 27-70 Q caliber that is exposed through the sapphire caseback. This manually wound movement is a work of art -- and ownership is nothing short of a privilege. Now that Charlie has lost his, there is one more floating around, but our guess is Capri (who may or may not have grabbed it on her way out of the Plaza that morning) had no idea how valuable it was -- and that’s half the fun.

Makes you want to stay in the hotel room he had. And turn it up side down to try to find it.

Does it count if the OP was wearing a Rolex when he posted it in the wrong forum?

I missed inside edition last night, so I appreciate the update on Charlie and PP 5970.

Saw the watch. Dial looks kind of busy to me.

I prefer my Speedy Pro!

A little update in my morning newspaper. I guess the woman is mad because Sheen ripped apart her $1,600 prada bag. I wonder who should be more mad; priceless watch vs $1600 prada bag

More reason why the watch should never leave your wrist. I don't care what your doing in it.

this is very interesting information, like the story about how
Yo Yo Ma left his Stradivarius in the back of a cab:

http://www.nytimes.com/1999/10/17/ny...adivarius.html

but it has nothing to do with rolex watches!

Problem for any non-WIS that may nefariously acquire such a piece: where do you go to sell it ?

Even a WIS would not be able to wear it, at least not in the company of other WISs

It's now a very lovely hot potato.

Somehow it's difficult for me to feel sorry for someone who makes 2 million/episode for a 1/2 hour television series.

I agree. Especially one that blows as much as that one.
