The Hans Wilsdorf Story (Founder Of Rolex)

Hi Everybody!!!

I hope you are all having a great start of the Holiday Season.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend I have been working on probably the greatest Rolex history story I will ever write, and it is named "The Hans Wilsdorf Story (Founder Of Rolex).

This amazing story contains many never before published candid photos of Hans Wilsdorf and walks you through the steps of his amazing life.

You can check it out at:

http://rolexblog.blogspot.com

I hope you enjoy reading and looking at the photos as much as I am enjoying putting it all together.

Happy Holidays!!!!!!

Jake

Great job on the article.

I asked in the other thread but didn't get any answers.

Jake, do you know how Andre' Heiniger became the CEO of Rolex? I find it interesting that he would just pop in from Argentina after HW died and simply take over the whole operation.

It is a fascinating question, and I intend to cover it in this article. I just have not gotten to it yet.

Apparently, Andre moved from Argentina just after his son Patrick was born in Argentina in 1950. He joined Rolex in 1950 and became close and respected by Hans Wilsdorf. Two years after Hans Wilsdorf passed away, Andre Heiniger was appointed by the board of Rolex to be the new CEO. This means that he climbed the ladder of Rolex in 12 years to become its leader, which means he must have been a very driven, dynamic and talented man.

Maybe one day, I will get to interview Patrick Heiniger and he will be able to fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle.

That is what is so interesting about all the missing pieces of the this puzzle, is that there are people alive today that know all this history, but nobody has ever bothered to put it together, and the greatest mystery is trying to figure out why?

My best guess, is that the powers that be at Rolex have been so busy for so long focusing on building and maintaining the brand, they never stopped to reflect back on how the brand was built.

As they say, "Time Will Tell."

Happy Holidays!!!

Jake

Thanks Jake, I appreciate the reply. I thought he moved back in 1963 at the time he took over.
Interesting that he only waited 5 years after the war ended before returning?

Wow! Thanks for sharing, Jake! Really enjoyed reading it!

I somehow remember your interview with T. Walker about Andre Heiniger.

Hi Jake,

Your work is outstanding and adds to the bible on Rolex "The Best of Time, Rolex Wrist Watches" by Dowling/Hess. It's especially interesting to have Wilsdorf's own words in the story. You have done all Rolex fans a great service.

Gary
