The Eagle has Landed!!: My brand new Speedy Pro.
Hola Amigos!! Hello Friends!!
It has been several years now, that I have been considering to add a Speedmaster Pro, to my Collection. By one reason or another, the project was delayed, and the purchase of an example of this beautiful classic watch was posponed. One point, was that I couldn´t make my mind about which of the many present variants to buy. I liked very much the present version of the classic “Moon Watch”, with the solid case back, displaying the classic logo, black dial and steel bracelet. This is the present edition of the classic watch which went to the moon, and perhaps, the most important -historically wise- model made by Omega. Then, I had seen some pictures in this Forum, of a different version, with a transparent case back, which allows to see the beautiful movement working. Though this meant getting away from the more classic and authentic solid back, and the hesalite “glass”, which is more attractive to me, the glass caseback offered me the interesting possibility of viewing the innards of my watch. Then, in 2007, during a trip to USA, I had the opportunity of viewing in the Tax Free Shop at our local airport, another variant, which offered the transparent caseback, and a beautiful brown dial. It came equipped with a leather band, instead of the typical all steel bracelet, which I liked very much. That was Love at first sight!! That was the model I wished! Unfortunately, my budget didn´t allow to buy that watch in that opportunity, but I kept its image floating in my head. Now, some months ago, I begun looking after this special variant, with no luck, till I talked with my friendly AD owner about it, and he offered to put an special order for this watch, reference # 311.32.42.30.13.001 with the local Omega Headquarters, as this particular model was not imported regularly. It seems that this is a not very common variant, it is produced in lower quantities, and it is brought only under special order. So I agreed to put my order, and it was promised to get one example in around 90 days. Now, last week, only 45 days after entering my order, I received a call from my AD, telling that the watch was received well before the promised due date! Everything was arranged for taking delivery of my watch yesterday, and this is how I´m now the proud owner of this watch. Believe me: I can´t take it from my wrist!! I find it so beautiful, that I can not understand how I could live without a Speedy all this time!! The brown leather band matches the beautiful chocolate dial. It cames equipped with a very comfortable deployant clasp: The #1863 caliber Movement makes a fascinating view, through the clear caseback. I must confess that it would be very difficult to chose one winner when I put this beautiful watch, side by side with my beloved SS Daytona white face, which is one of my favorite watches. I took some photographs in haste, of my new Speedy, just to share it with all nice friends here at TRF. I hope you´ll like it as much as I do. Thank you so much for your kind attention, and best cordial regards, Abel.

Nice, I love it. Huge congrats on the Speedy Pro.
Great write up and pix too I saw and tried this one too when trying on the 3570. Loved the brown dial and the display back is a nice touch too. Ended up with the 3570 due to the fact that it is the closest modern Speedy Pro which NASA uses. |

Big congrats on picking up that beauty. I love the brown and the clear caseback. Something about being able to see the complete movement with no rotor in the way is very enjoyable.

Remarkable photographs of a beautiful watch.
Question: can a Speedmaster have an Hesalite crystal and a sapphire back? Which crystal does this watch have? |

Great looking Speedy. I considered that model as well, and decided to get the classic 3570, but it was a close call.
