Chopard Mille Miglia Gran Turismo XL Model: 16.8997B
Hey Guys,
I'm very close to purchase this watch...list is $4160.00 I am able to get it for $2300.00 brand new. I really prefer a larger 44mm watch, so that is why I was thinking of this model. Your thoughts.... |

Not really my cuppa....since you asked. I find those '12' and '6' Arabics a bit too loud and over-sized.
For that kind of dough, I'd much rather buy an OMEGA Seamaster. Just my 2 cents. Cheers and welcome to TRF. JJ

Thanks for the welcome! I can also get the OMEGA for a very good price. The only problem I have with the OMEGA is I feel like the watch is to thin or is it just my imagination??

I prefer the ones with the "sword" hands - NOT the skeletal ones. Blue and Black dials are available and the original bracelet is a cracker. It runs the calibre 1120 Omega movement (base movement ETA 2892-A2), a very reliable, rugged and accurate one. For that kind of money, it's a superbly designed and a very attractive watch. The lume on that watch will blow most other competitors away. Go check it out at your OMEGA dealer - I promise you you won't be disappointed. JJ

Hi, BM and welcome to TRF.
Like JJ, I am not drawn to the large arabics and 6 and 12. They are a bit too in your face for me, esp. on a 44 mm face. But, hey, if you like it at that price, go for it.

Wow its certainly a bold in your face watch - I think I like it! I also like some of the Chronos from Chopard that I've seen, with the rubber 'tyre' like strap - very cool!
I say at the discount your mentioning and if you want something a bit different then you go for it!!! Make sure post some wrist shots if you do get it. |

Ok now I came into a new stage for my decision... Its now between the CHOPARD MILLE MIGLIA Gran Turismo XL or a Hublot Big Bang...Yes the big bang is retailed at 10K and the Chopard 4K but no matter what Im going to get a great discount on either of them. Now I think its coming down to what looks better in person and on my wrist.
Your thoughts on the Big Bang? |

My friend has a Mille Miglia that he wears daily, with the rubber tire band, and to be honest, the band looks like crap after a while. Lots of gunk gets in the tire treads and makes the watch seem dirty. Just my 2 cents. I like the 12/6 markers, and I think the watch is sharp!

I say get the watch and put it on a black croc or carbon strap with red stitching.
Very nice. Also at $2300 (£1175) there is not a lot of depreciation left in that watch.

I have that exact watch (noted in my signature) with the same strap. I LOVE it! I always receive compliments and inquiries when I wear it.
I also got a deal on the price but not as good as yours. Grab it at that price - what do you have to lose? It is a sharp watch. K4S |

Not the biggest fan of this exact version but I was super close to buying the 2006 LE (grey dial) which imo was a keeper!
