Lost Watch!!!
Hey guys wanted to know some tips on trying to find a lost/stolen watch.
I was skiing the this past weekend and after a night out lost my watch in Chamonix France. I retraced all my steeps and so far nothing? I asked the police and have emailed the villages watch and jewelery shops too look out for my Cartier Santos 100. Is there anything else I should could do? I am back in New York so can't keep an eye on the local wrists over there. Thanks, Philip |

Sorry to hear of the loss. If you have insurance, file a claim and include copies of the police report and emails. There is probably nothing else to be done. Good luck.

First off, that was some of the best skiing I have ever experienced in the world, hands down. The view is spectacular, especially when you first get off the tram. What an amazing place.
Sorry about the watch. As others have posted, it most likely is gone for good. I was robbed (typical pick pocket distract then swipe type thing) and the guy took my briefcase on the metro heading into Paris. I filed the police report and stopped into American Express to replace and cancel the traveler's checks. This was back in '98. Anyway, about a month later I received a letter from the Paris police telling me that they caught the guy and I could receive all of my items back if I paid the postage. Apparently he was busted near the Spanish border trying to cash one of the traveler's checks. He was arrested on the spot and they recovered all of my stuff. Your watch is quite different, I imagine, and it is probably gracing the wrist of some young, French hipster or a tourist right now. Thankfully you filed a police report. File a claim with your insurance company, they will ask you for the report, and then chalk it up to bad luck and/or a very expensive learning experience. |
