Buying my first Rolex - a DSSD 116660 - Advice please?

Hi Rolex Forums members, my first post here.

I currently own a couple of Breitlings but lately have taken a fancy to getting a Rolex, in particular the Deep Sea Sea Dweller (116660). I went in to a local dealer (regular high street store in West London) who had one in the window which I tried on. Have to say its love at first sight – I just think the engineering, quality, size (I prefer big watches) and sheer presence are perfect. The price is list value of £7070 - I asked if they would give a discount but was told "no", although they do offer a 20% down and zero percent finance over three years which, being zero percent, would seem silly not to utilise.

However, before seriously considering committing to buying this expensive watch at list price, could I ask forum members’ opinions as to whether there is a better source to buy a new (or very nearly new) DSSD? I see them on ebay but would be nervous about going that route with seemingly very accurate replicas out there and, also, I’d prefer to buy a new current spec one if possible.

Many thanks for any advice you could offer!

Welcome, try the for sale section here on TRF. There are many great sellers here that will give you a smoking deal. Good luck

I'm guessing this was at EJs, based in the finance deal?

I would point out that I recently got 5% off a Sub (which had to be ordered in) with them with very little (ie no) effort, whilst still taking advantage of the finance deal. I did stick 50% down, but that wasn't discussed until the price had been agreed.

Yes it was at EJ's. Very tempting I must admit. Never thought I'd even consider spending such money on a timepiece but I just love everything about the DSSD, particularly its engineering. I only have small wrists so I'm a bit worried it might swamp me a but it looked good when I tried it on in the shop!
