Is the Root Beer bezel TT or would a single color bezel be considered Root beer. And also I see some on oyster TT bracelets and TT jubilee bracelets. And a few of the dials seem a darker color with hour lume and then that nipple dial, does that have a lume ? All the minute/hour/second hands seem to be lumed

Marty's pic looks like a true Root Beer, cause of the TT bezel. I'm looking for an education on this model if anyone can chime in. It's on my list.

Please and Thanks
Mark

IMHO the one and only true 'Rootbeer' has to be a reference 1675 or 16753 with nipple dials and plexi. The bezel insert needs to have two colors as this is a two-tone model. Solid brown bezel only came on the all gold reference. All nipples are tritium but not completely faded unless the hands have been replaced. The classic 'Rootbeer' look is definitely on a jubilee bracelet. However, some people prefer the oyster bracelet as it holds better over time.

Here's my 16753 with jubilee bracelet, plexi, faded bezel insert and nipple dial. Enjoying a Chino in Venice.

Enjoy!!!!

I've seen your watch in a couple of threads and I must say it looks great!

To Yeager, if you want a GMT I'd really go with a TT, I think it's more versatile and a very nice watch (Root beer and Black look great but I kind of prefer the second one)!

Each time a see this picture, I become disfunctional and can not think of anything else. I wish I bought mine already and recover, damn it! And I fully agree with your definition of a true "rootbeer".

I am not sure if there Rolex has an "official" model called "RootBeer" just as they do not officially call Pepsi, Coke, Hulk, Kermit, Smurf, Blusie, etc..
That is just a knick name that sticks to a bronze GMT and is probably subject to opinion.
The Bronze and Yellow bezel came on the TT and the total Bronze was on the 18k . Both had brown dials.
I understand that there are some TTs with all Bronze bezels out there. I have seen a few TTs on here with all Bronze.

It's not official but that's how enthusiasts have been referring to it for a while. In Europe is also called 'tigerauge' (tiger eye) due to the resemblance of the dial to the semi-precious stone. The TTs with all brown bezels are examples where the bezel insert has been mistakenly replaced by the one that came on the YG model.

The sunburst look of the brown dial is somewhat like my LVc's dial. Amazing!
