Stolen Watch

Hi There,

A long shot, I know, but I was wondering what were the chances of tracking a watch the was stolen from my parents house in a burglary circa 1978!

My Grandfather worked for Nestle in Hayes all his life and when he reached 40 years service in 1961, the company presented him with a Rolex Watch No. 3025. My Grandfather died in 1973 and my Nan gave the watch to my father with a view to giving it to me when I was old enough. Sadly, we were burgled and the watch was taken.

I still have the Green box, green case, a note of the 'Rolex Roll Of Honour' up to 1960 and the Guarantee.

The guarantee states:

THIS WATCH NO. 3025.......

and was purchased from:

Charles Packer &Co,
Regent Street,
London, W.1.

on the 22-7-61

There is nothing else on the guarantee such as model name (if it had one).

It would be great if anyone could shed any light on its whereabouts.

Cheers and a Happy New Year.

Austin

Welcome to TRF.

Unfortunately I don't think your chances of finding a stolen Rolex are too much better than finding anything else that may have been stolen.

When is the last time you checked in with the police in regards to this case?

RUSA does maintain a list of stolen watches and if they come across a watch in their database by virtue of someone turning it in for service then they will get with the owner. However you would have to contact RUSA and provide them with a copy of the police report, model, and serial number of the watch. Of course this means whoever has the watch now would have had to turn it in to be serviced by RUSA.

ever say never ,,,, but the chances would be slim , maybe slightly better if it was engraved ,,, then just type in the name and date and do a web search ,,, stranger things have happened , good luck , and welcome to the forum too.

I'm in the same boat! My dad was killed when I was 12 and the police turned over his jewelry he was wearing to my mom, and when I was a senior in H.S. my mom gave it to me for graduation. Sadly I roomed with an unsavory person in which I did not know at the time, but it was stolen out of my room while I was at work. I asked around our small town without success. I was to young then to know you could report it to RUSA w/ a police report. I would love to be able to get it back because the sentimental value is great!

Chances of recovery is not great. Your best bet would be to report the serial number stolen to Rolex in the hopes of some day some one may turn to Rolex for service.

I guess you have the complete serial? As 3025 isn't a complete serial.
