Many thanks for all of you for your responses !
I know it was a daft question to ask , just i was sort of thinking it should have been more accurate , the -4 +6 second rule, either way im not gunna be getting up at midnight to check

As for the -4 +6 rule as you call it what this means in reality is that the bare uncased movement has been tested at the Swiss COSC.And in the 15 days of testing the movement passed the required test at the time of testing nothing more.It does not guarantee the movement will perform exactly the same as when it was first tested.Although Rolex will do there best to make sure it does by regulation if needed.Today most modern day movements with careful regulation could pass the now quite antiquated COSC test. But many manufactures don't test there movements simply because of the COSC testing cost for each bare movement its quite expensive. And because of the vast amount of movements tested by Rolex each year they have there own testing machine at the COSC.

Not a problem.....probably very few change exactly at midnight. I had a Date for 21 years that changed consistently at 5 minutes after. My latest, a DJ, changes at 2 minutes after.

It's normal. If you called the RSC they would tell you the same, then hang up with you and laugh. It's all good!

Mine use to change about 2 hours after midnight, I think the date wheel was sticking a bit. Took some forum members advice and turned the hour hand forward really fast so that the date wheel would change quickly, about 30-40 times. The problem just went away and now the date wheel change at midnight like its suppose to.

Pretty normal but if you can't deal with it take it to the RSC for a quick regulation.

Don't want to sound like a smart a**, but why not just wind it forward to lets say 11.55pm (even if it's not..), and then just watch what happens instead of staying up til midnight

My DJ that is 5 years old and was serviced right before I bought it 2 months ago changes exactly at midnight. And my Sub-C that is only 7 months old changes at about 5 minutes past midnight like others have posted....

I just got a brand new sub less than a month ago and I noticed that it changes about 5 minutes after midnight. I was also concerned until I searched for the issue and found this thread. I guess I'm not alone...
To everyone who said theirs changes at a non-midnight time: Does it change when the second hand is a particular location? Mine changes when the second hand isn't at the 12 position, which worries me.

My DJ changes at about three minutes after the hour, which is of no great import.

I do like that it does change instantaneously when it does change instead of taking some five or six hours as some watches seem to take.

That is pretty interesting. My DJ and SD change date within 5 mins. It was never spot on.

I just purchased my sub c in december and on new years eve wanted to see the date change. It changed 2 minutes after and after reading posts here I was not concerned in the least.

Thankful I used the search function before an elaborate post.....

My SUB-C seems to be changing over at about 6 mins. past midnight - just caught it the other night 10 secs. before midnight and thought I would observe the date change out of curiousity.... I would have genuinly thought that 6 mins. after midnight would appear to be a little long for the date wheel to turn fearing that I might have some mechanical gear issue occuring? But after reading this thread I guess it appears fairly normal and in line with other Subs'. Not concerned about the precise moment it changes - just if there was an issue would want it taken care of whilst under warranty not after....
