I just discovered 2 very faint scratches on the crystal of my GMT IIC

. It is not deep, I can barely feel it when I run my nails across it and it is only noticeable when I hold it at an angle and look closely. It still drives me crazy though because the watch not even a year old and I only wear it on the weekends and I am very careful with my watches. I have no idea how they got there since I thought the sapphire crystal is very hard - the only diamond that I can think of that may have been in contact would be my wife's ring but I thought it would take more than a casual brush to scratch it.
Anyhow, here's my questions for you experts out there:
1. Has the structural integrity of the crystal been compromise because of the scratches; i.e. would it shatter more easily now?
2. Is there a simple way to buff out the scratches or will I need to replace the crystal by Rolex and how much would that costs?
I am more concern about the structural integrity then the looks.

I wouldn't worry about the light scratches...my Pepsi has scratches on the dial for over four years and no problems yet and is waterproof. If you want have them replace the dial when you have it serviced but I do not know how much they cost. I'm sure someone else can supply that info!!!

It is possible to get scratches on a sapphire crystal. They are hard and scratch resistent but not scratch proof. I would first make sure the crystal is clean as it maybe possible they are smudges instead of scratches.

There's a possibility diamond paste may buff these out.
