Planet Ocean Generation 2: 42mm and Chrono
Hey all,
I had my camera in store today, so used it to take some pictures of my favourite divers! On show is the 42mm 232.30.42.21.01.001 and the 45.5mm Chrono 232.30.46.51.01.001, as well as my trusty 3570.50 for comparison No waffle, just photos Enjoy! Chris |

Nice
What did you think about the chrono? I think it's designed beautifully - love the two-register dial and the little orange hand.
But the thickness scared me away. If I lived somewhere warmer, where sleeve on top of sleeve under jacket wasn't the norm, but Buffalo gets cold. Thanks for the post. Rob |

And the new ones also...
make the Speedy look so much more comfortable to wear!

Not sure on the height of the POC, but it is pretty big, certainly Deepsea territory. I think it's perhaps a little big to be a daily wearer (for me at least), but as a casual and weekend wearer, I think it makes more sense. The 42mm non-Chrono seems to suit my wrist the best, however

How does the ceramic on the new POs compare to say, the Sub C or GMT Cs? Wonder if it is going to be as expensive to repair if they are cracked?

On the height thing, I actually like that they're impracticality high, it's part of Omega's history, making stupidly big chronos built for heavy duty use, dating back to the big blue 120, flightmaster, vader and anakin. The speedmaster is the low profile subtle chrono, the orange pointer hand and oversized case is Omega's Hummer H2 of the chrono lineup.

The POCs height is 19mm, but it wears smaller.
I have owned other 44-45mm watches that felt bigger. One of the "secrets" is that the caseback is thick, so the watch sits high on the wrist. A bit like the SD 16600. Here is a picture of the POC and Speedy Moon Sapphire |

Wow. The POC literally shadows the Speedy inthat pic...incredible.
I couldn't pull off such a chunk of metal on my wrist. |

I have tried the POC on just for fun. I'm not into big watches, but the dial on that one is stunning. The height on the other hand....just insane. Move your hand too fast and you will poke your eye out.

Thank you for sharing those pictures Chris, I like the two sub dials on the PO chronograph.

The PO Chrono looks gorgeous, but I think its hard to tell just how big it is until you put it next to the 42mm PO and the Speedy. That really opened my eyes--especially the thickness. Thanks for sharing!

I love the 45.5mm chrono. Definitely my next watch. I think the thickness works much better than the thickness of the DSSD. Beautiful watch! Thanks for the pics.

Man that chrono is sweet.
Maybe a dumb question but I can't put my finger on it...what are the screws on the bracelet by the lugs for? The ones by the clasp I get, but are the ones by the case to screw into the SELs? Why does Omega do it that way? Thanks, Rob

Yeah I like the look of it the but the whole massive size scares me. I'd practically be staying away from doors, desks, carts, etc. anything with a corner lol.

As for the thickness of the PO XL Chrono, I have one too and it's thick. Noticeably so... Kind of like wearing a brick chained to your arm. But in a good way. It wears smaller than the most 45.5mm's and I don't usually have a problem with it snagging sleeves. All-in-all, one of the best and most commented upon watches I've ever owned. The band/bracelet is also one of the most complimentary components to the watch. Nice pics OP, one of these days I'll have to work on my photography skills. |

Yeah I've definitely learned to walk a different way around those things. It become second nature after a while....the ol' put your watch arm behind your back technique I have a Sinn U-1000S, DSSD, and PAM 162 that are all in the same range. Rob
