Would you exchange Rolex deep sea for 372?

Well, would you?

Thanks for any thoughts!!

I don't have a DSSD or a 372, but, if I had a DSSD and the only way to get a 372 would be to flip the DSSD, then, YES YES YES.

Such different watches....

If you still like the DSSD then you will definitely miss it once the honeymoon with the 372 is over IMO.

Totally different watches. I think it's an even trade. I'm a big fan of the DSSD, but the 372 is a much more fun piece to wear.

no, i think the 372 looks similar to many other pams, but the DSSD = only one.

The SDDS is way to think for my taste and the 372 is stunning and wearable, so yes I would.

I've had a DSSD and have just bought a 372.....

Depends if you want a monster Rolex or a cool vintage looking Panerai!

Agreed... I tend to be like that with all of my Pam's , recently I bought my 390 over 372.... Was so in love with it, guess what... Still sitting in the box and haven't even wore it yet lol... My deep sea I throw on whenever and it's just always classic to me !

Both are beauties, but the dssd is just so much more versatile and especially for a daily wearer!

Without question, do it. The 372 is a stunning piece and can be dressed up or down and is truly memorable and unique. DSSD, while also a great watch, looks so similar to a sub that I don't think it gets as noticed.

DSSD for me. I own and enjoy wearing PAMs also, but none of them are quite as special as my Deep Sea.

That is a tough one. I wouldn't as you will get a lot more wrist time out of the DSSD IMHO.
The 372 is a great weekend watch so it depends how many weekend watches you have. With that said--both are great pieces so either way you win.

If the DSSD isn't a daily wear watch for you then yes I would flip it for the 372.

Yes. Get a 372, and go for a sub later. It will be a nice subtle combo to your collection.

It all depends on your style, vibe, lifestyle etc.

I had a 372. One of the most photogenic watches out there but on the wrist I found it (comically) large. I had it on for some business meetings and it just didn't feel right. And I'm a decently sized guy at 6'1"/185cm. It does have a lot of Panerai DNA and a cool vibe out it.

I still have the DSSD (that should tell you something). This is a bullet-proof go-anywhere monster Rolex. It is the watch to take to hell and back, while my 372 had scratches on the plexi within one afternoon. Do add a 22mm Isofrane to the mix and you have a very comfortable watch. Sure, it has some design drawbacks like looking that it has taken steroids, too much text on the dial/ring and it is on the thick side, but it is what it is - a true (monster) diving tool!

Personally I think the days of the oversized watches are coming to an end, albeit a slow one. It will take years for the bigger sizes to cycle though and lots of people will wear them but I'm happy wearing by 40mm watches like the Sea-Dweller 16600 at this point.

Net/net: I think the 372 is a cool and stunning piece, just very big and not a great everyday piece. If you love it, go for it, but personally I wouldn't give up a DSSD for it, rather try to add it.
