Greetings TRF,

With the new Patek Philippe section on (thank you again, Steve and the moderators) I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite videos! Perhaps I don't have as much as Thomas does in his Audemars Piguet thread but keep in mind that I'm always on the hunt for something new so I may come up with some every now and then. Feel free to add yours as well!

A sticky? That's would be an honor for me!

Although the second video seems to be more of a touching publicity I think the first one really helps us to understand what the creation of a Patek Philippe timepiece involves, it is quite impressive!

The Star Caliber is one sweet looking pocket wacth. The movement looks rather magnificent as well.

The 10 days looks real cool because of the longer power reserve, but the best without sexual overtones is the legacy one for sure.

From this grouping you sure can tell a big difference in the way they target the ladies audience versus the mens audience. It appears to me that they expect the gentleman to pay for the ladies watch, however they always tug at the men by expecting them to buy one and pass it down to their son.

I was indeed a bit surprised to see some want-to-be erotic scenes in the Twenty-4 commercial but I still think they've been able to put it in a rather elegant form, nothing really inappropriate.

I do agree with your analysis though but keep in mind that we're talking about a specific collection here. The Twenty-4 line contains watches that would be considered jewels more than watchmaking masterpieces (quartz movements with diamonds and precious metals), I think they may have wanted to have a specific selection of watches that says "buy this to your wife or your mistress if you want to spoil her" rather than "buy this if you want a timepiece that has been made by experts and that shall work for the rest of your and your children's lives". Not that it is a problem but I'd say it would only show that Patek Philippe, despite their current philosophy and how they describe themselves, still want to have their place in a special market that is usually taken more by Rolex or Omega (with all due respect to those brands as I don't see anything bad with that).

Still, now that we've seen several types of people represented in those commercials, I think another one would be in order for the nowadays business women and the female watches enthusiasts. Perhaps something about the Calatrava collection or the smaller Complications pieces showing that ladies aren't just people you can spoil with gold and diamonds but also fans of the craftsmanship and knowledge involved in the making of such a timepiece. After all, there is quite a lot of them in my humble opinion.

I just created a thread for this, however I thought I would post this one here as well. It's a tour of the Patek Philippe museum give by John Reardon. John Reardon has written a couple of books on Patek Philippe.
