nautilus 5726 vs 5980

I am getting the sense from ready posts that the chrono version of the nautilus is getting more love than the annual calendar Nautilus. Why is this the case? I was expecting the more complicated annual calendar would be appreciated more.

I think both of them are very popular among enthusiasts (I like the two of them myself). Perhaps the reason why the 5980 gets more attention is because it's a bit easier to find? Would that be the case (I'm just wondering)?

Easy. 5980 is on bracelet. 5726 wasn't until recently.

In my view "Nautilus" = sport and Chronograph match SPorty, whereas Annual Calender more to dressy and AC avaiable is quite a number of model such as 5205G i purchased recently and 5396 which is fabulous and 5146 a classic AC and even in 5235 looks great.

When i am considering 5726 at this price i can either go 5712 gold version or i can jump a little bit to 5205G which is also AC with whitegold.

Where 5980 is a bit different. Patek Chrono is very high price your option is either 5960 or 5170 the gap of the price would be material.

That is just my own thought. thank you

For me 5980R was the perfect choice. I love the look of the " bullseye" Chrono--so balanced and elegant on the multiple shaded brown dial. The RG is so warm and rich and looks amazing on the brown leather strap. With that said everyone has their own taste and to me this fits mine. Watch collecting so subjective and personal. One truly can't go wrong with any of these! Great collection as well Ba Ba!

I happen to like the 5980 more, but then again I just prefer their chronographs more.

I would take an Annual Calendar over a Chrono any day, 5726 all the way.

When it comes to sports watches or sporty-elegant watches, a chronograph will always be very popular. And I guess when it comes to annual calendar Pateks, most watch afficionados will think of a 5035, 5146 or 5396, or maybe even a 5960 before thinking of the Nautilus 5726. I personally am a big fan of the 5726 on bracelet, but the price is rather steep

Annual calendars are " dressier" than a "sporty" chrono...that's prob why the 5980 is more "common".

as Mike mentions SS bracelets tend to be more popular than straps... and chrono over calendar...

I would pick the 5980. If it was between the 5726 with the metal bracelet and the 5980 my choice would be the 5726 hands down. Personally I don't care for a croc strap on any nautilus.

I wish Patek would make a perpetual, chrono nautilus!

Like 5726 slightly more than 5980. Chronograph is a useless function for me i guess. but again, one cant go wrong with 5980.
