Thanks. The Respirator was more or less a failed design. At very high pressure it performed well...it was just getting there which caused problems. The case is simply a very thick shell which holds the crystal and caseback cradling the movement. The higher the pressure, the more the case and crystal compresses the gasket. It doesn't have a screw-in crown and it relies on pressure to hold the crown to the seal. Pretty neat if you step out of a submarine at 1000 feet below sea level but it's defeated by washing your hands! The whole package is held together with 4 screws.

At any rate, it's still a Zenith with an in-house movement. At 28000 bhp, the movement sings.

As an engineering exercise it's mostly a failure but all of the best ones are.
